Last year we got smashed by the cats to the tune of 157 points. Flick forward to this year, our club is still the young squad taking on the all conquering champs.

Our side is just that young, and a symptom of youth is that unpredictability - kids who kick 3,4 goals one week or get a bag of possessions might go missing the next. That is just whats gonna happen. So before we all stick the knives into the kids, and position our chopping blokes...

We were an outside chance at being a chance at somehow causing an upset against the Cats tonight. We were never gonna win it, especially with the withdrawal of Brown.
Last year, however we weren't even in contention of being a chance at anything. Most who played in that game played in tonights game (15). The changes to the line up between those that played in the 157pt loss and tonights game, subtracts even more experience and lowers the player age average even more.
So we lost by 63 points to the reigning premiers? Why are people getting worked up about a game that according to them that we were already gonna lose?
....unless they had that feeling we were a chance
The 157pt loss didn't accurately show us where we stood, I think this 63 point loss is a very good show of where we stand up against the best in the league.
So chelax people and dont put the knife in but actually support the club over the next must win month of footy.

Gee thanks for the wisdom.

These games still show up guys who may have fooled us.refer morton.

A disgrace!

Nah good post tucker. For the record, we've only lost by a couple of goals over half what we lost to Geelong in that game last year in two games against them this year. And they are still as good.

It could be worse, we could have actually been touted as contenders and then smashed by Geelong like the Dogs were a few weeks back.

Half their team going by youre logic were exposed as frauds on that day too.

What is the world coming too when a player has a bad game against the best team in the competition !!!! :o the sky is FALLING !!!!

yeah exactly ^
a player's not a 'fraud' unless they say before the game 'i will definitely play amazingly today' and then dont. they're not robots... performance won't always equal known potential
you guys did good

Just for the record, i wasnt having a go at the dogs just highlighting the fact that you guys are considered contenders and a loss similar to ours hurts more because of how your team has played this year.

Youre post is spot on :thumbsu:

good post. you guys have got some good but skinny boys.....get some meat on em, and teams will pack themselves

Geelong just put too much consistent pressure on us. Affected our disposal, and that affected out run, because the players weren't running hard to where the ball should be going. That meant they slowed half a yard to be able to find an errant pass (say, running past for a handball). And Geelong were just too quick, they gobbled up anyone not running full tilt.

And that was it really.

However, we did use the corridor more than usual. That was a small positive to take away from the game. It wasn't a disaster, hopefully the players can use it as a model to base their own games on. Consistent hard running and great disposal.

I have to agree with Tigerdan. The cats put us under so much pressure that we turned the ball over too frequently. Having said that we did make some fatal errors, that weren't pressurised. You can't do that against the lowly sides, let alone the cats who will tear you apart.

I do think the young fellas tried hard all night, tackling with ferocity and "taking them on" when they got the ball. Another two summers in the gym and we may be a little closer to beating the leader of the competition.

Good to see Tambling having a crack. I think his role is to try and run and he will get caught from time to time but the good thing is he's willing to do it again. Layed a couple of fair tackles also.

We were okay against a team that is unstoppable. No need for anyone to "slit their wrists".

Last night clearly proved how much work we need to do over the summer break. Our young boys were just monstered by the more mature physical geelong players. They are mature and developed and very very skilfull and the gap is clearly massive. No need for alarm. We just need to clear out some dead wood like kane johnson and jay schulz, recruit a decent ruckman and hit the gym hard over summer.

We were never in the game and that's purely due to our youth and inexperience. Our leaders failed again last night.

Anyone who thinks we are at stage where we can go toe to toe with a team like Geelong who are omminously looming as unbeatable as far as this years flag goes ...

does not know anything about football .

Gee whizz ... Morton should be sacked because Tom Harley stitched him up ...

Who would you bring in ???

Thanks for your wisdom "Sausage" .... we are all the better for it

Lets face it, Geelong at the Telstra Dome is practically a suicide attempt.

We did well not to get done by 100. :D

Morton kicked as many goals as Bowden but apparently he's the disgrace.

U need to get a root.

Geelong playing as well as Brisbane in their prime.

Big difference for me was they punished on the rebound every mistake we made, and they are stronger bodies that keep moving the ball forward even when we're laying tackles.

This game was not a measure of we're we are at. Next week means something to us.

sadly that's true

Bomber Thompson's 8th year as coach. Wallace's 4th. We'd be a pretty good side if he had another 4. But doesnt look at the moment like they'll have Wallace around much longer.

That's the sad truth.
