I have heard he is wanting to come back to Victoria. And who could blame him for wanting to leave that rabble of a club.

Pretty sure we could scoop him for a 3rd rounder with his trade value plummeting this year. We had a go at him 3 years ago and could possibly get him even cheaper now, would be a no risk easy way to help our forward line with a ready made player.

Thoughts?

I do rate the guy and think he is a lot better than what he is showing this year. The feed from the West Coast midfield is not ideal and I think with our up and coming midfield, he would be an asset next to the likes of Jurrah, Watts and Bate.

A straight trade for Miller would suit me.

We do still need another BIG forward like a Josh Kennedy or Chris Dawes....

GO DEES!

Bennell for McKinley might work however, we did want Bennell before the draft

Nah he's only 184 cm as Dez pointed out. We have Petterd and possibly Hughes to play as mid-sized forwards.

If we're going to gamble, we should be looking to trade for Dowler or rookie list Mitch Thorp. If we're really going to gamble then perhaps we should look to rookie list Ryan Murphy from the Dockers when he gets cut.

These suggestions are very hit and miss, so I'd much prefer we build from the bottom up with Watts as the rock.

On McKinley though, he's only 184cm.

Yea he's much in the Robbo mold, still has the capabilities to play full forward better than anyone we presently have at the club. (Jurrah i see more as a floating forward much like Petterd)

We already have a good selection of medium-to-tall forwards, and as such, I really don't see McKinley adding anything to our side.

Pass.

I was keen on him at one stage, however how good a contested mark can he take?

great idea, we will have plenty of room in cap, should go hard for him

Pettard will be at the GC next year, no doubt about it and we should get a first round pick for him

Why will he be at the Gold Coast next season? He's been quoted saying he wants to be at Melbourne and has no desire to go to the Gold Coast.

Pass, Pass, Pass...worlds biggest ego and a body made of glass. Not even worthy of a Rookie List spot.

He seems to have gotten over his injury problems and since getting the boot from Hawthorn he seems to have mellowed out ego-wise.

We need another tall forward and he is the most developed and talented out there, we'd be absolutely stupid not to go after him.

Somebody like Beamer would be able to sort him out as well.

Yeah, I'd much rather take a punt on Thorp than McKinley, given that he actually works towards filling a void in the current side. Further, he's had plenty of development at AFL level and obviously possesses a great deal of talent.

Having said that, though, we have to remember that he's very injury prone and apparently rates himself to an unjustifiable degree, so it would definitely be a risk if we were to acquire the guy.

I don't know if the club has decided 'that's it' for him after his pre-season with us, but I wouldn't be against giving him a rookie spot for next year.
