How has ben reid been going in the pre season this year? Havent seen many games of collingwood so far..

Will he play most games this year?
 
Continuing to develop and looks v promising. Has filled out a bit and v mobile for his size.

Always been a fan and think he would have made a big impression last year except for injuries. Will be semi permanent players in 1sts this year, hopefully every game

I think he will play 15 games this year he might not start the season but will force his way in by round 5 or 6 his best spot his leading forward good set of hands he just needs to be played there permanently
 
Sydney have a good set up on BF - a sticky thread devoted purely to opposition club questions about Swans players for SC / DT. Went there with some - ahem - ruck enquiries.

Reid I think will be a fair prospect to play 15+ games but might not score as well as a Ziebell. I think I have Reid though in one or two teams.

We should look into that surprised we havnt got it would make things a whole lot easier
 
Malthouse obviously rates him very highly and I think will look to get as many games into him as possible.

Good chance to play the majority of games barring injury imo.
 
To my assessment physical attributes aside the guy has ZERO confidence at this point. Whether or not that develops in time we'll see. But without it...not looking good.

And yes I'm aware its his 2nd season and he's very very young. So happy to wait longer and see how it pans out.

Thought he Seemed a bit more Confident this year so far in front of goal but he still is Soft and Shies from Contact

Noticed a Few Time against Essendon he didn't go when he Needed to go or am I looking to much in to something?
 
Obviously has the faith of the coaches and has attributes. Have actually liked him more down back than up forward in the NAB. Has shown glimpses but still gets knocked off the ball / out of the contest too easily for mine. Still plenty of development needed but coming along nicely for a big man given his injury run.

I'm with you Opti. I havn't noticed it and I'll be on his case if i see it.

Get rid of him I say.
 
It's his 3rd season, not 2nd.

Reid was pick 8 in the 2006 draft I believe. I saw him play VFL level last year and he was worrying. Tonight he is making mistakes, coughing it up, OOTF's etc.

As a long term prospect, it's hard to judge a KPP, especially a rather skinny one.

But as a super coach prospect for the 2009 season, this is an easy call IMO.

^what match were you watching? Tonight he gave away frees and kicked out on teh full. He gave it up every chance he had. i have never seen him play a game that has regained any sort of faith in everyones judgement that he will be a good footballer. He has put on some size but he hasnt changed any decision making or skills.

Well he showed me up tonight and I actually like some of his Toughness
 
Ben Reid = one top 10 draft pick wasted by Hine.

WTF was he thinking?

This kid cant even freaking kick the ball, back or forward.

Please trade him for a 6th round pick and we will finish ahead.
 
I think he was alright, kicked one off the instep but otherwise had a passable outing on a night when we were fairly smashed all over the ground.
 
Reid looks a long way off. He has the physical attributes but so did Tristan Walker-remember him? Reid's foot skills are very poor and he is now in his third year at the club. He seems to panic when he has the ball, even when he has time and space. If he plays double figure games this year I will be surprised.

Despite not having a night to remember, I don't think Reid was even close to our worst. You can't judge a kid in a game where we were comprehensively beaten in every position, especially when he spent a lot of time down back against a side who was that dominant.

Fact of the matter is that everything was off tonight, partially due to a poor performance but largely due to superior opposition. Decision making and skill execution was terrible right across the board; the team structure also looked ineffective from the start of the second until the end -- there were also some worrying signs in the first.

The team as a whole were well beaten, whilst I'm not opposed to highlighting areas that the side - and individuals - need to improve upon, I think it's poor form to start singling out and writing off players entirely. Especially in the case of Reid, who in my opinion has shown some good signs this pre-season and still has time on his side.

Show some grace in defeat, cop it on the chin and avoid finding a culprit to string up.
