Hmm thought we might've played a few more essendon listed players with the week off. Big test Laycock vs Bellchambers here, if Belly outshines Laycock he could be in some serious trouble.

Aren't they playing the full quoter of AFL listed players?

I feel sorry for JJ, he works his guts out week in week out in the 2nds, and if he hasn't got a call up with all the injuries, i doubt he'll get one for the rest of the year and then get delisted. Shouldn't happen to champs like him.

His time was up at the end of last year and he should have pulled the pin.

2 year contract was absolute madness and the club and Sheeds were negligent in actually giving him that.

We should have phased out JJ along with Bolton, Heff and Pev a lot quicker than what we have.

Totally agree, Sheeds has a lot to answer for in my books. Add to that list Hennemen and im still wondering why we recruited camporeale, zantuck and idiots like them.

Get over it

Everyone here knows the story. It is dusted.

And re JJ, KS and the club wanted to give him a one year contract but he would not budge. Wanted a two year contract. He got it and we got the player we wanted for a year, plus one.

There is a human side to this.

Human side?

The only human side of this was JJ's selfishness in wanting more than he was worth.

The club,it's members and supporters don't need to offer him a free ride.

He should have been man enough and realistic enough to say I'll take a one year contract and work my butt off to get another one.

He used to be one of my favourite players but I have lost a lot of respect for him now.

Is there a limit to the number of guys who can run out for Bendigo from the Essendon list?

I would have thought that guys like Hislop would need another game for match fitness, even if they were going to stay in the seniors.

Fair enough i hear you, but perhaps sometimes there is too much of a human side. To get anywhere in this world unfortunately you have to be ruthless.

That's just not correct.

Anyway, they took a chance with JJ and it turns out that the ways things have gone it's hasn't worked well. The club obviously decided that JJ was worth the risk of a two year contract. It might have turned out better for us, but it didn't. It's hardly the end of the world. It's not like we've missed out on a whole heap by him going on for another year, he's just not in the team.

I might be contradicting myself here but i guess at the end of the day JJ did deserve 2 years after the service he gave us.

Bendigo Bombers will this week be boosted by the inclusion of several Essendon players as the VFL side take on Frankston at Queen Elizabeth Oval on Saturday night.

After suffering hamstring injuries in the early part of the season Leroy Jetta and Sam Lonergan will play this weekend as they try to regain fitness and touch before coming back into the senior Essendon side.

Jetta played in last weekend’s loss to Port Adelaide and will no doubt be better for a run with Bendigo on Saturday night, while Lonergan will make his first appearance since injuring his hamstring in the loss to the Western Bulldogs a month ago.

Also playing for Bendigo this week will be one of last week’s three Essendon debutants, Jarrod Atkinson and he will joined by youngsters Tayte Pears and Kyle Reimers who did not play in last week’s loss to Port Adelaide.

Although Bendigo has not won since their season opener against Tasmania at Windy Hill, this week presents a great opportunity to build some momentum following the split round and the week off.

Essendon Coach Matthew Knights has shown a willingness to give his young players an opportunity to test themselves at AFL level and it is great motivation for those selected in the Bendigo side to perform well.

Frankston sit one game ahead of Bendigo on the VFL ladder and it promises to be a tight encounter as the Bombers look to get another win on the board under lights on home soil at Queen Elizabeth Oval.

Bendigo Bombers play Frankston at Queen Elizabeth Oval, Bendigo at 7pm on Saturday, 10 May.

I'm a Frankstonian lad, and i'll still be supporting my Bombers. Went down last year i think it was with a few of me mates to the Frankston/Bendigo game, essendon fans they are, and they are yelling abuse at the Bendigo players, cheering on Frankston. Don't know how they could do it, i love Frankston, but anytime i see a team pull on that Essendon jumper of the red and black, just gotta support them. Except Coburg, ofcourse ;)
