After watching Bernie Vince last night i'm convinced opposition teams have him on their radar.

I'm not 100% sure why, When he got near the ball he was consistently have a number of Saints players scrag him and he would be wrapped up in seconds.

I saw a comment that he was playing a run with game in defense but was that so he could escape a tag?

Other than that I'm happy with his progress and he is fast becoming a replacement for the fab 4.

His goal caused movement in my pants.

"Weekend at..", Texas and Porpous are the only ones who would have kicked that.

It was a shocking game.. weve already bashed the umpires for killing our chances and when we get a decent set of three Bernie will be covered by the opposition coaches but get a better deal from the men in tangerine....
nothing to do with Bernie but what the hell has happened to Graham Johncock? Hes half the man he used to be.... Hes become so amazingly fit I didnt recognise him at first...

Vince's goal was an absolute pearler, but it highlights the need to attack down the members side when kicking to the northern end when the wind is as it was on Friday. We have an obsession for attacking down the outer wing when kicking in this direction. The wind is usually blowing in from the members side as it was Friday. The outer wing also ends in that dead pocket that is almost impossible to goal from.

It was always going to happen after he got 33 touches last week and was our main midfielder. I'd be looking at scragging him if I was an opposition coach too. He hasn't yet proven he can deal with it but has proven how damaging he can be when he's left to his own devices.

I reckon he's one of those players that can hurt teams even if he doesn't have 30-odd touches. I would have had him in our best the other night despite his quiet first half.

A lot like Porpy, or McLeod for much of his career. You'd prefer these guys to have 25+ touches every week because they're all class, but you'd be happy with 10-15, they're just that damaging. I've always said that I'd take 15 McLeod disposals over 30+ from a guy Scott West, same goes for the other guys. Not that West was a bad player, but his disposal tally is flattering.

As others have said, he is definitely on the opposition's radar now as he is a first string midfielder with the ability to ruin the game in a 10 minute stretch with his damaging disposal and decision making. My feeling is that this extra pre-season will finally bring his athletic base up to elite and he should be set to rack up some more big possession games.

Bernie will start attracting the heavy tag purely because of his ability to use his leg to kick over the rolling zones

Bernie's next stage of development is to learn how to break a hard tag

I have him in my SC team, just like the way he goes about his football. Looks like he has added a few new strings this year...he is just going to get better and better with age I think.

Has been our best midfielder this year along with Edwards. Good inside midfielder as well as been damaging with disposal.

Needs Thompson, Reilly & van Berlo to lift their games, so we spread the load & give the opposition more players to think of covering.

van Berlo's not playing badly at all for a guy whos coming back from injury. 24 possies and 2 goals, then 23 possies last week (more than Bernie).

Thought I would bump the actual Bernie Vince thread. I thought what he did was good but I did not realise that it was a 30+ game for him.
He is fast becoming if not already there, a big 4 replacement IMO the skills and control is great. I hope he backs it up next week.

His showdown efforts have been good thus far.

Plus good on ya bernie for being the only Crow to come give our section of fans some love.

I was actually surprised any players went to the fence to the fans. I know they seem to do it at all away wins, but after the critisicm they copped last time at the 'G for doing it, and it really wasn't a win to get overly excited about, I thought they would have just given the fans quick recognition and got off.

Ciggys help to keep the weight off.

They were obviously embarrassed by the game, you could see it in them. But we sat through 3 freezing hours of poo footy, so it was nice of Bernie to quickly acknowledge us.

Well there is an article on Porps being almost elite. I wish they would ask the same question about Vince.

doesn't get cheap kicks, rarely stuffs up and has probable the greatest decision making of any of our youngsters.

He is in our top 2 or 3 midfielders and IMO would walk into every club in the comps starting 22.
