Parko just said on AFL Teams that he has the mail the Pies have been going at Bernie Vince at "100 mp/h"

If this is so, what would you be prepared to give up for the likes of Vince?

Hmmmm....

I guess you can never have enough midfield depth but will be interesting if proven true.

You'd think the Crows would demand our first selection which will be about 25 as minimum.

Not sure what to think really. Will be 26 at the start of next season so age is ok but where is his head at as a footballer. He looks terrible at the moment.

Yeah would need probably 1st Rounder plus Goldsack/McCarthy at worst, think he'd be hard to prise off them despite terrible form - his form late in 2009 was blistering

Dunno EC.

The question is what role would we have in mind for him and who he would replace?

Is he an automatic selection? Yes/no/maybe?

These are the real questions.

Is he definitely on the outer at West Lakes and leaving? What's his contract status? What's the go?

At the end of 2009, I thought Vince could be anything. Potential top 5 player in the game.

At this very moment, he wouldn't get a game with us. His decision making, awareness, and disposal has been horrific of late. Confidence? Perhaps. But he would want to improve dramatically unless he wanted to rot in our VFL side.

Geez, I'd be hesitant to give up a first round draft pick - not because he isn't worth it, but just because that will mean we have only taken 1 in 5 years, and that will start to bite us in a few years.

Unless it was thought that he would extend our window (and genuinely improve our chances for FY12 and beyond) I would say no.

I really don't think so... I'd assume it would
  1. Add further pressure to our salary cap, he wouldn't play for peanuts.
  2. Cost us a first rounder, and possibly one of our younguns that they may fancy
  3. Be possibly of little reward. He has really only had one good season, in 2009, and there are no guarantees that he will ever recapture that form.
Seems pretty far-fetched to me. Maybe we're seeing a return to the days where any time a player was raised as a potential trade, Collingwood was always thrown in as an interested party. Recently it's been the Suns and the Giants though.

He is a quality talent when up and going and would look better in a good team.

Questionable work ethic. Apparently did really well at Adelaide when Simon Goodwin was his mentor.

The talk is that he would do well as Essendon under Goodwin and would be a good fit there.

We are always in on the talk when it comes to the big names. Last two seasons we have snagged the big names so you can't overlook it completely.

Would be interesting if we are interested.

But not as keen as I was 2 years ago after that breakout 2009 season.

As for his approx trade value. Would be worth a pick in the 10-15 range, so would be expecting pick 12 or better probably.
Would require ALLOT more than our pick which will be around 25..
Would be after a Dayne Beams quality player if they are looking at dealing with us..

If I made a move. Maybe Blair + 1st rounder would be the type of deal I would consider if going after Vince.
Blair's been good over the past 2 seasons and probably won't ever have any more value than he has now. Don't see the potential for him to ever become a Brent Harvey or even a top 10 club player at any stage so if we do move Blair at any stage now would be the time..

Sounds like a ploy for the Pie hater that is Parkins.

State another gun midfielder is being persued, causing current midfielders to think their spot is in jeopardy.

He's playing mind games with our boys.

Essendon will be all over Vince and offer more then we would be prepared too.

Conspiracy theory. Pies know they are going to lose a gun midfielder so approach a back fill player. Say, Pendles has said he wants to got to GWS but wants a good deal for the Team that drafted him and has looked after him. He signs a one year deal, that will cause GWS to trade for him as part of his deal with GWS, not to wait to end of 2012 to sign. We are linked to O'Meara who most would agree, we aren't in a very good bargaining position to obtain. Trade Pendles for O'Meara in 2011 trade week and GWS restructure Pendles contract and trade for Vince. His trade value has lowered plenty from 2009 value.

We lose Pendles, pick up Vince who'll can play midfield straight away. albeit not to the high standard Pendles can & does, and score a future superstar in O'Meara.

Crazy shit..not sure why I even thought this up:o

I doubt we could compete, after all if Bernie wanted to leave Adelaide, GWS would offer him twice what we could, and even clubs like Richmond and Essendon would offer him way more then what we could.

We will have a struggle fitting all our current players into the salary cap, let alone adding another high priced recruit.

On the other side though, if he was willing to come to us at a "discount" price, just because he wanted to compete for a flag, then hell yes, give away our first rounder again (in another compromised draft) and throw in some steak knives as well (Goldsack, J-Mac).:)

Vince struggles with a tag, won't have to worry about that at the Pies and could be a handy pick up.

Front running party boy that had one good year when he was under the radar. Has since been unable to deal with any kind of tag and has picked up a recurring knee injury. 26 next year.

As long as you took Knights as well, I reckon a couple of Grand Final tickets to raffle should do it.

Flake with big potential, excellent player, flake.

Rate him but not sure about application. Cost would be prohibitive, who would he nudge out from our midfield, high cost for someone possibly in midfield depth.

Suspect good player with a good structure around him and a short stick.

Why couldn't we compete for Vince? Money is not everything and Vince might Want to play for Collingwood.

I don't really care what happens if we get him Great if Not well Oh Well

Pretty much this.
Would be a good replacement if for some inexplicable reason Wellers wanted out.

Having said that I believe Essendon is his most likely destination.

For the people who want Vince, have anyone of you watched a Crows game this year? He has been terrible, actually scratch that, he has been a level below terrible.

Sure i understand a new club may turn him around to get him back to the level he was a few years ago, but gee it would have to be a massive turnaround, so big it would make Lazarus proud.

If he came cheap, like a second round at the highest he might be worth a nibble, but i doubt we'd get him for a pick around 40 when shit teams like the Bombers would offer the world for yet another spud to add to their potato farm midfield.

I think vince really wants to come back to melbourne and i personally would love him in the team id try throw something like a Jmac our first rounder or Goldsack
i rekon they would defiantly look at it

Ah I'm just curious as to the link Vince has ever had with the city of Melbourne? Considering he's very much a croweater having played his footy before being drafted at Woodville West Torrens...
