Politics & Government Best alternate Aussie flags?

Not to debate whether we should change it or not. Just a thread to post up some good options, IF it were to change.

Not that I really care what it looks like, but our colors are green and gold, so should our flag.

One I saw a while back was basically the Aboriginal flag with a green southern cross in the yellow circle. Probably politically incorrect (basically just defacing the aboriginal flag I guess) but it looked pretty good.

I like the Eureka flag too. Strong and simple.

Seriously though, I would love to see a design that incorporates the Wattle that actually looks good. Have not seen one yet.

Green and Gold are our colours (derived from the aforementioned wattle), but again it seems hard to make them look good together. If they could do that it would be good.

Southern Cross looks great, but it's not uniquley Australian.

Too much going on in that first one and I'm not a fan of the colour scheme. Also I don't know why people complain about the current flag being exclusionary and representing only the British but then suggest one with only aboriginal colours.

Simple and distinctive FTW.

I like the gold background with green kangaroo and green Southern Cross.

Identifiable by green and gold (our unoffocial colours), a constellation always visible from the continent and a marsupial native to the continent.

If you have the Union Flag and/or Aboriginal Flag and/or Torrest Strait Islander Flag on it you're asking for trouble.

I really think we should have a new flag without the Union Jack. Having been overseas for the last 7 months, whenever I saw the Australian flag the thing that sticks out so clearly is the Union Jack. It just doesn't feel right. I don't think there would be too many people left who feel a strong affinity to Britain in terms of us being British.

Bingo. No southern cross or other bullshit. Similar to the Canadian flag, which is just brilliant. I might just have an outline of a kangaroo instead of the coat of arms, but I like this the most by far over everything else posted.

Imagine all the scum with their southern cross tatts if it vanished from the flag

As someone who has eaten the coat of arms on a pizza I must say the fact we can actually eat our coat of arms is in fact awesome, that is all.

This has long been my preferred design, but without the coat of arms.

Maybe even just split halves.
