I'm not too keen on Carlsberg or Heineken, either-- but I prefer VB over anything else domestically brewed in Australia. Seriously.

Then again, back home in the U.S., our beers are horrible. Old joke, censored for your protection-- "Drinking Budweiser is like making love on a rowboat, because it's f***ing close to water..."

Guinness, a.k.a. ye old mud, is good, too. But as long as I'm drinking here, I'll have a good ol' VB any day. :)

You must be joking! Not much beats heading to the pub after & having a Coopers' Pale off tap. Reckon Squeak would make a good drinking partner - Kilkenny & Becks are 2 of my favourite OS beers (& the others listed aren't bad either). :)

Corona would be my favourite. Goes down very well.

Coopers Pale would be my next favourite.

West End is alright - but only if its drunk out of ice cold cans! In any other manner - it tastes like crap.

You have got to be joking. Tennents is shîte. The only good thing about Tennents were their TV ads. They're even worse than McEwans!

For me I like something with a bit of taste, such as a Hoegaarden, despite it propensity to deliver headaches or London Pride. Used to like a drop of the 80/- as well.

Which reminds me of a story... (sorry)... here in Florence there is an "Australian" pub, and out of morbid curiosity I stuck my head in. This is it the worst pub in existance. Tacky psuedo-Australian road signs on the wall (some confused with American culture... since when do Aussies drive Chevys?), only have four-X on tap, have things like emu bruschetta and kangaroo gnocchi on the menu (but don't actually serve it... seems they didn't have any that night :rolleyes: ).... but the worst was an Italian waiter who I think was trying to pass himself off as Aboriginal.

If anyone can top that as worst pub ever, I'll be impressed.

i was up in townsville last month and from the tap, it was either VB or XXXX Gold. ugh

dont mind Becks, Heineken or Crownies, but Kilkenny is a nice smooth drop, my fave.

but i cant always afford these exotic labels, so Tooheys New does just fine most of the time

Hmmm...the extra strength one at 8 or 9% is awful, the standard one at 5% is divine.

Sounds typical, but then most 'Irish' pubs outside of Ireland also tend to suffer from a similar cultural misalignment.
 
Carlton Draught still holds up strong for mine. I enjoy Toohey's Old and I love Dab in those skinny cans as well.
 
Coopers ale and Boag's premium for me.
And I know I will get laughed at but I think Crown Lager is overrated. Sorry.
