massive stone roses fan but i am the resurrection has never clicked with me as it has with other fans for whatever reason.

they're a popular target but they still produced some good music, and imo the best king of leon track is arizona which closes because of the times.

Iron Maiden was in the habit of placing a long-running 'epic' at the end of their early albums. Some of their best work:

didn't really cut it. Never a favourite of mine, but some would class Fear Of The Dark as an epic.

Letter To Alan, the closer on Circus Animals, is damn near Cold Chisel's finest hour.

Great thread. Always thought the final song was the key element of a great album. A few have already been mentioned i'd agree with (A Certain Romance, Outsiders, Street Spirit), will add in Knights of Cydonia, The Tourist and Amsterdam from A Rush of Blood to the Head.
