I couldn't nominate a best, but have a few favourites.

Chicago - Either of Chicago Transit Authority or Chicago II
The Elt - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
ELO - Out of the Blue
George H - All Things Must Pass (if you include triples in this category)

The Clash - London Calling. I've 5 vinyl copies of it. The Clash also have one of the best triple record albums too.

English Settlement by XTC was also a very good double album.

The Autumn Stone - Small Faces

Another one for Mellon Collie. Under rated album and band really. Billy Corgan in the 90s was a songwriting machine. I think this is often overlooked because his voice can be a bit grating at times but the first 3 pumpkin albums are pure bliss.

Would love Arcade Fire to do a dbl.

Billy Corgan is a bit like Brian Molko for me. The band is excellent, couple really good albums, but I really have to be in the mood for that voice.

Double albums are an absolute slog to get through. If they're really good, they're emotionally exhausting. And if they're okay to decent, they're a chore. Not a fan of them at all, but I'll throw Mellon Collie up there.

One of my personal favourites.

In the mid 80s I stupidly gave away my whole record collection, and then around 15 years later, I discovered a really good 2nd hand shop in the neighbourhood selling LPs in pretty good condition, and this was one of the first I bought, but alas, the book was gone.
