Best Ever Aussie Soap...

Have to admit im not old enough to remember the old classics such as Number 96 and the Box, so apologies to any who is and feels agrieved about them being left off this poll.

It might be pathetic to admit it as a bloke, but theres something 'so bad, its good' about your Aussie soap that i cant help but love. The bad acting, the consistently recycled storylines, the hilarious production values (Witness the Kevin Carteresque bit of stuntwork for the car going over the cliff death of Toadies other half Dee). For me my favourite would have to be the legendary E Street. No show set the template for psycho's, bombs and stalkers better than that one. Does anyone else remember the heady mix of suspense, surreal and innappropriate that was the 'Mr Bad' saga. Or the Sonny Bennett saga, where half of Westside bit the dust. Those were the days. What we just saw in Home and Away was kids stuff in comparison.

So whats your favourite soap...and favourite plot line?

Have only really watched two Aussie soaps. Speed St and Neighbours.

Speed St was great at its best but it quickly went downhill.

Neighbours has been a solid show but the latest developments may cause me to tune out.

Have only ever watched Home & Away a few times and that was enough for me.

Would have to go with Neighbours as they have come up with Holly Valance, Madelaine West, Natalie Bassingthwaite, Nicola Charles, Stephanie McIntosh etc.

Chances...... by so far its not fu*king funny!!

Storylines such as the wild sex crazed man slave who is rescued from a Pacific island inhabited by a race of sex hungry Amazonion supermodels. However it is only found out after he is rescued that when he is fed sheeps testicles he turns into a suave upper crust Frenchman. There were several storylines where he forgets to get his daily dose of sheep nuts and starts rooting all his female co stars. Classic stuff!!

Had loads of a&t and only ran one season - 1991.

It starred Michael Caton as a stoned Vietnam Vet and Abigail as a TV sex-therapist named Bambi Chute it also had Kate Langbroek appearing topless (aarrggghhhh!!!)

Other storylines had man-eating plants, devil worshippers, Israeli secret agents and neo-nazis hunting valuable Third Reich artefacts (in Melbourne!)

So bad it was that damn good!!
