Opinion Best Guesses - what game changes will MM make to how Carlton plays and why?

I remember something T60 mentioned a few years ago about Malthouse when he was at the Pies, that he was able to make Dale Thomas into a fearless footballer, whereas if Thomas played for us he would of been a bit on the flashy, but soft side.
Already the improvement in Gibbs, in this respect, is enormous. He's standing taller and strutting around with so much more confidence, poise and purpose. This is one of the benefits of having a player manager who knows how to get the best out of each individual, whilst moulding them into a complete unit.

The other thing that we'll notice under Malthouse, is when a player has a bad day they'll stand out like dogs balls. With his ability to get the team to play to a fairly tight system a player out of sync really stands out more than normal - think Leon in finals, or Cloke with his head down, that sort of thing.

How easy is it for Mick to be proclaimed an unquestionable genius? Play Gibbs in the guts. Outstanding. Defense first team oriented football. Unbelievable. Kick long to tall forwards. So crazy it might just work.

I would have done it for 500K a year. Hefty pay cut, but thats how much I love the club.

So we have a pretty good idea of what Mick will bring to the game-plan.
What am I wondering though, is for how much of that game-plan may be filtered through to the VFL, for role development to players that may spend protracted periods at that level.

There seemed to be a big difference between the way we played our game at the senior level and for the way we played our game at VFL level last year.
At times the players looked completely disinterested and as we know there was quite a bit of division involved, culminating in the then NB's coach deciding it best for him to move on.

Let's face it, we've had a pretty ordinary development program and just wondering what we've actually done in the past 12 months to rectify that situation.

A full time VFL coach will certainly help on that front.

I still can't believe we thought we could do with a part time coach last season. Seems quite unbelievable to me.

Some of the goings-on and the bickering were unbelievable.
Watching Lucas and Yarran walking around the ground when at that level was also somewhat unbelievable.

Not sure what we were thinking last year but you'd want to think that we now have some cohesion between the two levels. Geelong has.
