les bamblett was sensational at the Bulldogs albeit for a short time - charlie stewart (no. 7) for Footscray in the early 60s was very handy - a very very good player.

Stephen Michael. The pity is that he never played VFL/ AFL.

He was even better than Adam Goods in the air, and as hard as Archer around the packs, with a tank that could run all day.
Awesome player the best outside of Carey I have ever seen.
Here is another one for WA fans Micheal Mitchell saw him stand on an opponents shoulders one day at Subi no hands just verticle leap.
Oh and Basil Campbell,Bill Dempsey,Benny Vagona, the Narkles and from AFL Adrian Mcadam

Its 50/50, iirc, half aboriginal, half italian. Makes for a very handy set of footballers in any case.

...plus, their goanna rigatoni is famous in the West.
Can't believe no-ones mentioned Scotty Chisholm yet.
Remember him ?
First year the Dockers were in, he killed it, would have the Brownlow as well if he didn't get injured.
Never seen a man stuff up as badly as he on the footy filed though, jeez he made me laugh.
Michael Mitchell ?, goal and mark of the year while playing for the Tigers in the 80's.
Solid innit ?

I saw Polly play, and Square Kilmurray, Steve Michael, Baz Campbell, Lewie, Winmar, Rioli's(Maurice and Sebby),Syd Jackson and a host of others.

Polly was the best by far but I rate Michael and Wanganeen up there with Matera and Aker.

Toughest - Baz Campbell by a country mile - ask Don Scott. He ran up the player's race during one WA/Vic State Game because Baz was after him. Wimp.

Polly Farmer was peerless as the best Aboriginal player and probably the best player EVER to pull on a boot.

Winmar was the best and Muir the toughest, according to my dad.

Two Brownlow Medals: Gavin Wanganeen (1993), then an Essendon player but now at Port Adelaide and Jason Akermanis of Brisbane in 2001.

Add one Adam Goodes (2003) to this list.
