Hi all

I'm using up my final 2 trades at the end of this round. I've got enough for any midfielder I want I believe, so I'm tossing up who to get.

Ablett
Bartel
Hodge

My thinking with Ablett is that he may sit in the forward line for large periods of the next few weeks, as they dont NEED him firing him the midfield to get the wins on the board. If that happens, he wont score as highly obviously, but then again if he is up about the midfield he could kill it as he did most of the year.

Bartel is Bartel. He will score well and is the solid choice in good form.

Hodge is the interesting one here. Since his return from injury he has been dominant with great consistency, and playing across the halfback line mopping up heaps of ball and tackles has meant he has pulled out some big big scores.

So, if you were in my position heading for a league grand final and could afford any of them for the last few matches, who would you pick?

I like many have Bartel & Ablett happy with their performance this season.
Never had Hodge but he has been prolific since coming back from injury:thumbsu:.
As you said he drifts to half back and gets some extra possies.
All 3 of them will score well.

Bartel & Ablett on 57 and 69 before half time :)

Ablett wont be rested in the forward line. He has had plenty of rest in the last month or so through injury and will be trying to run into some form before finals; which wont hurt his Charlie odds either.

Bartel is a safer bet as he is unlikely to get tagged ahead of Ablett, while Hodge is very inconsistent; 170 last week then 90 this week... bit like Buddy - risky in finals.

Ablett for mine.

I think 'very inconsistent' is a bit of a stretch, I think his lowest score since returing mid-year from injury was this week, 93, and has averaged about 125 since then.

That said, I agree. Thery're all great options, obviously, but IMO Ablett is the safest and the best. Watch Hodge burn it up the following 2 games though, has got WC on the wide expanses of Subi, then Carlton at the Dome. Will be stung into action after his 'poor' game this week too.
