Best striker in the world?

Kane for mine is No.2 striker in the world. If he gets 30+ goals again in all comps this season (only 19 more to go), I'd make him number 1.

He's playing amazing and not just his finishing. But top 2 is a big call.

I would go

1. Messi
2. Neymar
3. Ronaldo
4. Kane
5. Suarez

Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar are at a different level to be honest. Kane can’t do what they can do, but that’s no put down. He is on their level as an out and striker though, but those three are more forwards than strikers.

I'd call the top 3 wide players/wingers.

Lewandowski would be ahead of Kane at this stage

Ronnie has played as a striker since his second season at Madrid.

Yes. Cristiano is now an out and out centre forward and he is a superb example of the breed. Great in the air and with a great knack for being in the right place to get tap ins ( not an art to be dismissed ).

He is too wasteful ( so for 0 goals from 22 shots in La Liga for instance ) to be seen as the best striker but he is a great striker.

The best? Messi is the best at almost everything and is the best striker. Far more efficient ( have a look at chance conversion stats ) over the past decade than Cristiano who is his only serious rival for the position.

Robert Lewandowski.

Purely as a goal getter his stats since leaving Poland are fantastic. Right up there with the best of the past 10 to 15 years.

The Bundesliga is a bit unfashionable with EPL and Liga getting the international attention but he is close to a goal a game in that top league which is Messi/Ronaldo territory.

As an all round player not in legitimate Ballon d'Or conversations but as a pure striker superb.

Who does he play for now?

Assuming he meant when he left Lech Poznań for Dortmund?

Correct. My mention of the bundesliga a big clue !!!

International goals tallies are almost meaningless. Bagfuls of goals against minnow European opposition distort.

Tallies in the Champions League and the Bigger Domestic leagues are what matters.

Sorry, read as if you meant something else but put his national team instead. :D My mistake.

No worries mate.

My basic point on Lewandowski and indeed all top strikers is that international football is virtually meaningless as a way to gauge them. Basically there are too many turkey shoots in the European qualifiers for the World Cup and the Euros.

Lewandowski's goal per game record in the Bundesliga is almost int he Messi/Ronaldo territory and that alone gives him the right to inclusion in any conversation about top striker in the game.

Only cos he has Grosicki feeding him in the national team. :fire::fire::fire:

I've loved Kane's work but still rate Messi

Messi is the best striker in the world. Of that there is little real doubt. His conversion rate is far superior to CR7 and the likes of Kane have yet to show the metronomic consistency of a Muller/Inzaghi/Rummenigge type.

Boring as it is to say it year after year but Messi really is better than everyone else at more or less everything and the familiarity of that statement does not make it untrue.

the best two players I've watched play the great game are messi and maradonna. Very little separated their best but drugs ad lifestyle separated their longevity.
