Which player(s) do you feel have underachieved this year for the blues and why? Either through lack of form, injury or opportunity...This is not an invitation to take cheap shots at players we dont personally like, but rather a chance to find areas where we can improve.
Your thoughts?

Kouta - has been dissapointing the whole year.
French - hasn't provided the 1st ball to our-onballers as much as we would like. Was good at it last year.
Lappin - Very inconsistent, should play out the season providing run from the backline and not the fwd line.

I tend to agree; was expecting a lot more from Kouta after a pretty good year last year, and no injuries sustained over summer (that I heard of). French's form too has dropped off this year and we would expect a lot more form a player of Lappin's calibre,
I have been dissappointed by Setanta, as there was a lot of exciment over summer about his progress, was also expecting to see some regular games by Hartlett.

I have to agree, in fact, it wouldn't bother me if Setanta was delisted at years end. Probably wouldn't happen, but lets be serious, he plays a bit like Prendergast.

Sure, he is new to the game, still learning - and yes he has done a top job to be where he is - but how long can we wait??

I watched the Bullants game last night and I thought Setanta looked better than what I have seen at AFL level. Tons of enthusiasm, good second and third efforts, able to kick the ball, a very tall man with a good reach. I still have a hope for Setanta and that hope lives in the backline.

Agree, he needs to be persisted with at CHB, as I can't see him getting a game up forward with the likes of Fev, Waite, Fish & Kennedy all still relatively young.

Whilst Carlos' kicking has improved, he still has plenty of work to do. He still takes too long to actually kick the ball, which he can get away with at VFL level, but won't at AFL level.

Thought Carrazzo has gone backwards slightly this year. Thought he might have been ready to really fire up this year, but seems to have lost form and confidence, although 90 posessions in his last 2 games with the Ants should do the confidence a world of good.

Agree with the others as well, especially French and Lappin.

Agree. Carrazzo was one of our better and more consistent players last year, but hasn't had the same influence this year. Hopefully he'll improve.

Stevens hasn't exactly played at the level you'd expect.

Bentick hasn't progressed much.

Sporn's gone backwards (and is just about gorn)!

As has Teague- how did be ever win a B&F?

That's because he played in a back pocket last year and that's where he plays his best footy.

Justin Davies. I'm begining to wonder if that back is ever getting better. As I've said previously, more talent in his little finger than many 1st round picks, but maybe doesn't have the personality for success in the AFL. I was hoping he'd finally prove himself this year, but it looks less and less likely we'll see him in 2007.

My thoughts exactly.

He's been out injured all year!

1.
NS - has not had the best year to date but is class and 2nd 1/2 of year we'll see that.
2.
AB - still believe in him and seems to do well when actually gets ground time. Does need to replicate the Collingwood performance of L/Y though.
3.
Sporn - agree, no more seniors T/Y
4.
DT - at least he does try. Limited ability however he wrings every last bit of it out. However would probably be outside best 22
5.
Luke Livingston - has managed to actually underachieve previous years underachievments

Look no further than this. Yes has been injured, but that was the point of the thread.

Stevens to my mind is the player I am least impressed by. Yes he has class but he doesn't produce anywhere near the ability he has. I believe his attitude is very poor and he needs to model his attitude on someone like Lance.

As for the side in general I believe that most of our list has underachieved this year and for many years. Exceptions would be Lance and Murphy. Whilst Fev has had a good year I still feel he has more in him.
