I've come up with a couple ideas:

1. Play Bucks at Full-Forward the whole game. Yes I know Rocca has been playing out of the square most of the year and has done a fantastic job, but we need that link-up player who is strong in the air. Travis Cloke could fill the void, but his form is a worry.
Last year when we were down in the dumps, Bucks starred at FF. If he can kick 3 or 4 goals against the Lions, it will cover Tarrant's loss. We are more than able to hold our own in the middle. Put Licca on Black, O'Bree on Power and Swan on Voss, give Heath Shaw a run on Akermanis, I don't think Rhyce has the legs just yet.

2. Sean Rusling. Showed promise of being a more than handy player out of the square. Why not bring him in and open up the 50 for him to lead in to? I'm sure the Assist-King Didak could probably hit him on the chest a few times. May not have the match-fitness to run hard all night, but has the speed.

Thoughts?

No to Bucks at Full forward. In his few forays forward this year he has looked lost. Not sure if Bucks has taken an overhead mark all year. Leave him in the midfield rotation where he's most value.

T- Clo will get first shot at CHF/HFF. Then Cam.

If that does not work I'd look outside the square and consider Caracella who cant get a look-in to our forward line this year but nevertheless is in good form. Or Maxwell, who wont have a matchup is Wakes and Presti return, and might enjoy the forward line - he showed a bit last year Or Lonie - maybe worth a punt - seems to have a bigger engine this year and might make a good Tarrant type clone.

Not Rusling. He's not ready.

Trav's form has been fine imo.

Rusling has done nothing in the 2006 season to suggest he's in line for promotion.

In Travis Cloke
Out Chris Tarrant (supended)

A lot of people are saying bring in Travis Cloke because he is a CHF. Yes that is right, and yes It would obviosuly not be a wrong decision if they did

....But......

The dangerous quality that Chris Tarrant has against other backman, is his speed. He is lightning quick and continuely makes 100-150m leads all day.

Now Travis doesnt do that. Yes he can mark, yes he can kick, but he isnt quick, and I have watched him the last 2 games for willy, he isnt quick in VFL.

Now my opinion is this.....Nathan Buckley CHF, because he will give u hard strong leads and he works his a$$ off as we all know. Leave Anthony at FF.

I'd bring in Scott Pendlebury. He is 190 odd cm tall, quick and a beautiful kick of the footy. And to me in a few years looks like he could be a tarrant when he puts on a bit of muscle.

Thats my opinion, and I believe it would work. U play scott on a wing and it should be fine as we out run the old, slow Lions

Plan A (Heavy hitters)
HF: Buckley T Cloke Didak
FF: Davis Rocca Caracella

Plan B (Unpredictable and mobile)
CHF: Thomas Fraser Buckley
FF: Didak Rocca Davis

Plan C (Sean Rusling!)
HF: Buckley Rocca Didak
FF: Davis Rusling Caracella

Trav Cloke. Has great hands, and can get his hands on the footy when needed. With more on his shoulders, he has more of a role to play and does the job.

Rusling, well, like Coin_Toss said, he is a month away.

Buckley will play HFF IMO.

Guys are having to earn their spots this year, no free rides...

Trav back in, has been performing ok at Willi, Rusling will need to be like everyone else and knock on the door, not just wander in...

Trav Cloke was demoted when not playing all too badly, and has been playing well in the VFL.

Now with Tarrant's suspension, for the boy's confidence we have to let him know that he's within our best 25.

Travis back in the side for taz and Cam Cloke out for Guy Richards. This therefore allows Josh to play mainly as a forward, assuming that Guy can be atleast competitive in the ruck.
Trav Cloke can only play CHF at the moment in his career really as a pinch hitter, comming on and off the bench. Whilst Trav is on the bench, Josh up forward.
Any one agree?

What about this setup:

HF: Didak, Buckley, Leon
FF: Caracella, Rocca, Thomas

Doesn't have to line up exactly like that or even with those exact players, but the point is playing small. Those smalls are our most damaging players. I think what will probably happen though will be Travis cloke coming in and playing CHF.

From left field...

Egan.
probably a little to left field! i dont think that mick will put him in the firsts unless he proves himself or unless he has no choice (injuries). I would much rather give cook a go then egan

HF: Didak T.Cloke Buckley
FF: Leon Rocca and whoever needs a rest (Burns, Lica, Fraser...)

If richards does ok in the ruck i would be tempted to leave josh at CHF and move T.CLo to HFF instead of bucks.

We needn't worry the forward line is still very formidable, it will be good to give Taz a rest this week anyhow.

Dont change a winning formula re: Rocca.

The structure is good and changing it wont help. Have Trav play the same role as Taz and keep it simple.

yeah and we know didak gives them headaches and hopefully neon leon will too going on his form atm, he is a vastly improved play compared to other years and didak didnt play last year against them, but saw in the pre-season how he gave them head aches with a 5 goal first qtr, superb to watch. I wouldnt be surprised if Mick goes small at stages during the game, he has done it before and its proven very effective.
