The one that interests me is how highly you all rate Tambling. From what Ive seen of him, and Im not a Richmond supporter and its just my opinion he seems a bit like another David Rodan:A glimmer of absolute brilliance here and there but mostly inconsistent. I dont rate him highly at the moment, would be interested for some Yellow and Black opinions on this?

1st year-

-Became a father
-Moved from NT
-Suffered a number of injuries (Hammy, Toe and back)
-Move wasn't entirely smooth
-GF wanted to return home.
-Has no family down here.
-Struggled to adapt to the city life
-Deledio starred that season, raising the bar of expectations for Tambling.
-Was slim with minimal muscle

Hence the reason for a struggled first season

2nd year

-Begun to put on kg's, however still fairly slim
-Played many more games
-basically his first season, getting control of pace and understanding of where to run.
-Confidence begun to grow late season.
-Racked up some good games
-Kicked many goals - about 5th overall

Pre-season 06/07

-Killing in the midfield
-Has put on many kgs.
-Adapted to city life
-Ditto to gf.
-has some family about now
-Formed strong friendships with players, where as shy previously.

This pre-season is showing so much promise. He is faster/as fast as Deledio, more skillfull, can find the goals, has just as good hands etc

That would be why I see him mentioned equal or above deledio on many occasions.

Cheers Tambo:thumbsu:

Agree tough 1st year for the boy... and love your enthusiasm about Tambo. But Deledio has and always will have him covered.

Just reckon Deledio had a bit of 2nd year blues with more attention and came through pretty well. Tambo, Raines, Polo and others havent had a year like that yet where the opposition have to shut them down. I anticiapte they will all get more attention this year, will be interesting to see how they handle it.

Deledio is a gun and absolute gun.

Pre-season training shows different. He carved the midfield. Outran Deledio, outmarked deledio and clearly skills were more class than Deledio.

Honestly Deledio doesn't have to flash skills with in the 20-40 metre range.

Deledio is a better contested mark than Tambling. But all other areas it is fairly even.

I mentioned in P.Bowdens first pre-season with the Tiges he was going to places. No one/ very few listened. Ditto to Rainsy having a big year in 2006. A few people agreed.

This year I pick out Tambling.

I have always been a huge fan of Tambling, however have kept quiet.

Deledio was the first selection due to more stabability. Tambling hadn't played against 'grown men'.

Watching the way he trains now is amazing. It is very clear he wilkl have a big year providing no injuries are in the way. :thumbsu:

Deledio is tearing the house down at training (what I've read on PRE)...so to say Tambling is beating him at all aspects seems weird...also, Lids is #1 or #2 on that list for Geelong match...Tambling is around 4 or 5.

BTW, Deledio was tagged most weeks in 2006 until Wallace decided to play him in defence or on big name players for his learning.

Time will tell, but for Tambling it looks like he is in for a ripper of a season and hopefully both Deledio and Tambling tear the opposition apart with their pace and silky skills. Tambling is a running outside midfielder while Deledio is more of a Game breaker like stepping up when needed (eg. against Hawthorn in his first year to put Richmond in front to win

1. Deledio
2. Raines
3. Thursfield
4. Polo
5. Foley

Shown on what we've seen so far.

Personally, i think Pattison will be up for a big year. If we can stay in the Best 22, and perform solidly for the year, he will perform.

Thats where people misjudge Tambling. He isnt a running outside player, his best football win be played as an onballer.

Was about to say that. He is killing the middle at hardball and maintaining balance on is feet. Unlike Foley who dives and can often be seen on ground. Nothing aginst the way Foley plays, just Tambling is grabbing the harball and running off with it rather than handballing away to the nearest opponent. :thumbsu:
