Keeper lets us apply opening round stats to players that have the bye in rd 2, 3 or 4.

This means that we have less byes to deal with.

Everyone ok with this? Set your very few players playing this weekend and you’ll get their score when they have the early bye.

Makes sense to me.
Sure sounds good, guess I better propose this in the other leagues too.

Lock in players playing opening round on their bye rd on the Thursday night before the first bounce of the first game to get their score.

Lions v Geelong is treated as a round 3 game now that it is playing during rd 3.

The Essendon V Gold Coast game after rd 24 counts as nothing. Just tough luck here if you have a lot of them and you will need to cover them in their bye rounds. Luckily only suns in rd 2 and Dons in rd 4 will be donuts. The rest of the byes are covered by opening round.

It’s a bit messy but keeper is handling pretty damn well considering opening round is terribly for fantasy and then the cyclone has added extra complexity.

Not really messy. Ess and gcs were never going to count, and we get the bonus of getting back geelong and lions players.

I missed this. Like i said in the other league I don’t think people should get a free hit and seeing someone’s score. I think a reasonable compromise is they need to field these players on the bench, then find a suitable loophole like any other week. That’s the only situation teams have to look at a score, and this should be the same. Don’t think it’s fair that someone losses a potential matchup because the saw will day ripped it.

And what if will day gets injured next week? Someone gets his stats to win a game?

We have till round 2 to decide but your suggest of having players on the field now is to late. It’s an advantage to get to see the score beforehand BUT an advantage we all share.

The alternative is everyone gets potentially more donuts and the first few games can we won or lost base on who has the bye and who hasn’t.

It’s a new feature with keeper. UF did not offer this.

Quoted from PR.

I’ve made a poll now that at least one person has reservations.

I like the option as it means byes are less swingy. As Zim pointed out seeing scores in advance isn’t uncommon by using loopholes. This one just has more freedom.

in saying that it’s not the end of the world if we don’t use this option. I just think it’s a great way to handle opening round causing uneven byes.

If 3 people vote no from the league we won’t use the option this season and can discuss it next season when we have more time.

I was confused about it to begin with too.. that's not how it works though. They can't use Will Day's score whenever they feel like it. Will Day's OR score will be his Rnd 3 score (or Rnd 4? I can't remember when Hawks have the bye). So whenever they have the bye, all the Hawks players scores will be their OR scores. Realistically, unless you've got a Will Day type score you're most likely trying to loophole that player anyway, because maybe someone outscores them still.

In not confused about the situation. And I stand to benefit with lloyd and amon, Daniels daicos, Howe and quaynor.

I just think because we disregard the damage MBR cause, we need to create a policy that you can't say well I've missed more than my opposition then.

So if we treat them as playing on the Thursday then it's like any given week where we loop. I don't think is fair I get a look at all the players I mentioned, then also get a crack at looping.

I havnt read everything in it,

But how is it different exactly? Surely the player needs to be named in some capacity in a starting lineup/emergency?

No different as you say to the Thursday night game and seeing those scores? It happens?

Another way to do it next season is you announce on this thread who you will select from that round. You announce it before the commencement of opening round and declare

I will play Lloyd and Amon on field. Then it doesn't matter what they score, you have to play them if they play crap.

You could then also say I want to start them on the bench and loop them in.

Thoughts on that?

If we are evolving like this I think we should consider using averages in the multi bye rounds

I'm just trying to get ahead of arguing against those who flat out think no we shouldn't. I just think it makes sense to follow the principle of if u "loop" someone for good stats u risk a donut.

I think with my latest post we can eliminate any of that by stating our intention for the player before we know the result

I thought that is how it works for this year - you have to have had the players named in your line up for O round and they are added to your round 2 and 4 line ups. Otherwise it is a bit late for the reasons already mentioned (can't choose to name players AFTER you know their output).

It is like looping. If when the first game of round 3 or 4 is played you don’t have those players in either an emergency or playing spot then they’ll be locked to your bench. The first game of that bye round is when they get locked.

How about:

Byes are exactly what they are. Your player doesn't play that week.

We've all got the same rules. Let's move on

Which is fine for mid season byes where they are all even over the bye weeks (all teams have a bye) and forces teams to us their depth. But opening round is not even at all as this season 6 clubs will play one less game and this is smart way to only have 2 clubs play one less game.
