If Bickley has aspirations of coaching the Crows, I wouldn't mind seeing him as an assistant coach at another club. That at least gives him a well rounded coaching education, rather than being under the same person the whole time. And at Carlton, he'd be with Denis Pagan, there aren't many better coaches than he.
John Worsfold also went straight to the Blues as an assistant coach after retiring as a player. Two years later he returned as coach, and helped the club surge up the ladder.
