Australians dont do 2nd level sport. Look at sheffield shield, ODD, VFL, NSWRL etc crowds are terrible.

Crowds are way down on the old days. Even so we're talking about a national 2nd division with all the costs & SFA income

It goes on too long already ffs. I don't mind the comp but it should only run in January.

I think there is potential to start one week earlier if it can fit around the rest of the schedule and maybe play more double headers but I agree the comp can't go much longer than it is.

You could probably have 14 games in much the same time as now.

Hopefully with 7 home games each time decides to bring a couple of matches to regional areas.

Does anyone know if the new Eureka Stadium in Ballarat will be able to host T20?

No way. Geelong has successfully hosted A league soccer, 22,000 people, afl of course, 30000 a week, has an international 20/20 coming soon. They are ready to go. They are making a big mistake if they don't come to Geelong. No one will enjoy night cricket in ACT in 10 degrees.

All this talk of diluted talent pool....its simple raise the number of international players in a team from 2 to 3 or 4. Eventually it will be a bit like the IPL where not much international cricket is played during it so the Australian squad will also be available.

International cricket will always be played in Dec and Jan

Looking at the weather forecasts theirs not a lot of difference between Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat or Hobart save the odd degree or two here & their.

Lived there 12 months summer nights are about as warm as most other capital cities spring nights its not that bad really

Looking at the BOM, doesn't appear to be a huge difference between the places I mentioned. Certainly nothing like 10c. Even 5c.

It is so good that there is no topic on expanding into Tasmania. makes this expansion thread feel fresh.

Canberra is the obvious one. i guess BBL would suit the Gold Coast. up the internationals players to 3 to cover the lack of depth.

BBL to NZ would be great but i just cant see it happening due to politics.

If they expand, wouldnt it be 2 teams?
But yes its more likely CA would increase the matches by 1or 2 & play them regionally.

One side makes sense for balance (4 home, 4 away, every team once) but you need your derbies twice in the big cities

Getting the imports here for an earlier start & not over cooking local players with too much cricket would be a consideration
I guess to fit it in & not burn the players out would be to get rid of the ODD series.
