Population helps obviously. The fact that Hurricanes crowds are larger than the AFL crowds in Tasmania shows what happens when you have your own team rather than some FIFO AFL mob. That would apply to playing games away from home in the BBL as well I suspect.
Im not a Tasmanian nor have I been to Tasmania. But I reckon Tasmania would be crying out for a football code to support. Really impressive numbers for the island state.

I wouldn't begrudge Tasmania if they wanted an AFL side, something I know they have pushed for a long time. Is there potential maybe to go up to as high as 25,000-30,000?

Pure numbers are only part of the picture. Its about the $$$ a club can raise to pay its way. Clearly the $$$ value per spectator is important. The stadium costs are a huge component of that. Tasmania provides good financials for games played here.
Going to the Hurricanes games showed what its like to get a partisan crowd supporting their own team. Going to AFL games at Bellerive Oval is like going to the theatre, hardly any real barracking.
With more BBL games on the cards, I think games in Launceston will replicate that partisan support of a home team. I predict, as at Bellerive, the crowds in Launceston will be greater than the Hawthorn game & start to show the real opportunity & benefit of having a Tasmanian AFL club. Not just some FIFO mobs just down here for the money.

Expansion to 40 games next season with each team getting one extra home game. Regular season goes from 8 to 10 games per team.

No annoucement on how this impacts the shield or matador comps. Hopefully not too much - with double headers, at most you're looking at another week added to the schedule.

Dump the silly matador cup.

Canberra, Geelong possible locations for more games.

Being based in Sydney, could definitely see Thunder possibly playing 1 of their extra home games in Canberra. Going to throw one a bit out of left air, could see the Sixers play somewhere in Newcastle possibly.

Would the Scorchers look to play that extra 5th game outside of Perth? possibly Bunbury, Mandurah? Fremantle?

Problem is Newcastle has no suitable venue. Its a pity really. Its only AFL standard grounds that can cope with BBL now.

Is Femantle actually outside Perth? I mean its closer to Perth than Werribee is to Melbourne! Perth is set with the new stadium.

Fremantle is Perth.

Mandurah no. Bunbury no.

Please explain?

Well ODI cricket is still an important format of the game at international level and still the biggest money maker due to remaining high popular in Asia.

The World Cup is still the most prestigious ICC tournament.

Not having a domestic OD cup just weakens our team.

A regional round would be cool. Except for anyone playing the Scorchers, then it would suck playing in Broome humidity and 45 degrees.
Get Brisbane to play them, they'd be somewhat more accustomed to the heat and humidity.

You're proposing to get rid of literally the only List A tournament in the country. What are we supposed to use for ODI form?

I never see the bloody games. They play them in Sydney or Perth. Also what are the crowds like to watch games at wonderful places like Drummoyne, North Sydney, or Blacktown?
What is the point of such a bastardised competition?

So it's just because you can't go and watch? What a stupid reason.

To provide domestic players with List A experience so that it can continue to serve the ODI team.

Then play it properly like the shield comp. Why dont we get to go & watch our own team play on home turf?
Because it suits CA's needs of wanting it televised to do it in the tournament format in Qld and NSW

Maybe you could play a cricket game at the home of the Newcastle Jets/Newcastle knights?

Fremantle is not even outer suburbs of Perth. Its well and truly Perth.

Could definitely see 1 of the Stars or Renegades moving 1 of their matches to Geelong.

I don't know much about Victoria but maybe get a game in Dandedong, Ballarat, or possibly move a game up to Darwin?
