It’s only a small and anecdotal point but I think the number of dropped catches is s fair pointer that the talent well is being drained as far as it should be (or beyond) and we’re not ready talent-wise for more expansion.

Officials in Alice Springs are hoping for a crowd of 5,000 for tomorrow's Big Bash game at Traeger Park.
5,000? That's it? Hardly seems worth it. I'm surprised they aren't focusing on a larger regional city.
Does the ground even hold more than 5000? Should be played in Adelaide, Saturday, top of the table clash, would get 40k easy.
Supposedly the ground has a capacity of 10,000 but I imagine the amount of seats at the ground is a much lower number. I think SA teams are naturally drawn to playing regional games in the NT. I know Port and the Crows have pretty good relationships with NT footy through several different avenues.Does the ground even hold more than 5000? let's go, triple headers!
Looking at the teams right now, is there anyone who think there's enough quality going around for another two teams?
Nope. I'd argue in fact that, based on what I've seen, the talent is too diluted with eight teams as it is.

It would be more like the WBBL then where the Australian team is playing. If we weren't playing test matches at the same time then we may well have enough experienced players for two more teams & keep it competitive & a reasonable standard.
So in that case, probably not.![]()
Is there anyone who actually watches the big bash for the quality though? CA and 90% of the viewers wouldn't give a shit what sort of quailty the cricket is. If they did international t20s would be a lot more popular then they are. In fact the competition quality weakening may even help CA promote its stars as they plunder spuds all over the place.Looking at the teams right now, is there anyone who think there's enough quality going around for another two teams?

There'd be enough talent for two extra teams then![]()
I was out at Lilac Hill for WBBL yesterday. Massive gap in talent between the international players and state players. It would be more like the WBBL then where the Australian team is playing.

Here’s a go at what a side would look like with players not currently getting a game:
International
M Renshaw
K Patterson (c)
International
M Labuschagne
S Whiteman +
C Green
A Nair
M Kelly
C Tremain
M Kuhneman
If you add an International to each team, and Perth stopped hoarding their quick talent then the standard wouldn't drop all that much with 1-2 teams.I'll have a go at the other team:
Will Pucovski
International
Seb Gotch
Justin Avendano
Alex Ross
Harry Nielsen +
International
Joe Mennie
Jon Holland
Dan Fallins
Brendan Doggett
So pretty much, don't expand. You could put together an XI of players regularly getting a game and it'd look pretty ordinary too.
