I havent seen that classic Big Bad smile in some time, even when we win these days. It seems, since teams have been double triple teaming Barry, that he aint really havin a whole lotta fun out there on the field, and why would you. I mean, as a prime forward for your team, you'd have to be pretty disappointed when you can only kick 1 goal in two games and be 10 or more goals off your previous season tally, and when you use your body strength to win a ball, you get pinged more often than not for hands in the back. He's clearly struggling, BUT what can be done about this. Im a big bad fan, but he aint much fun to watch lately

If baz is doing average, then it means others in our forward line are doing well. He isnt getting the best treatment from umpires either. When he got a free kick the other day, it just felt weird...

It's irritating me every week to hear people say "backman x" dominated Hall. Not hard when you can get away with a fair bit. So many spoils or contests's theres a hand on the shoulder to effect a spoil, holding or blatant interference.

I'm still spewing about 2 decisions in the Essendon game, both 40 metres out in front, one was Mal Michaels headlock-cum-tackle that wasn't paid, and Hall chasing after a loose ball when he was grabbed with 2 arms and hauled away from the ball. I understand that good players need to learn to rise above this stuff and I wish Hall would stop acting like a petulant u/16s player every time there's a contest, but it's gotta be hard dealing with it week in, week out while there's all this crap about how he gets a good run with the umpires.

Edit: Another example would be this week where Hall was going after a ball in the first quarter, had a Hawks player (I think it was Campbell Brown) semi holding him before falling forward, taking Hall out of the chase for the ball and allowing another Hawks player an easy pickup.

a lot of occasions. Many times he has to prop and wait for the ball giving his
opponents ample time and opportunity to spoil or its passed to a position where its easily chopped off by the opposition.

I feel his frustration.

its just such a shame to see someone of barry hall's calibre, playing like this, whether its poor delivery, good defense, umps, or whatever, he needs to find a way to beat this scenario, for his own benefit as much as the teams.

Probably because i picked him in my supercoach side to replace Tredrea in Rd 10. Guess what? Hall scores 10 and 26......GROAN!!!!!!

Hope he gets back to his great numbers of last year, although whether it's the new rule or what, most of the power forwards of seasons past (Hall, Tredrea, J.Brown even Richo) have had very mediocre seasons so far.

Barry just needs to get his head right. Physically, he looks fine although I know his knee is sore after the game. His last quarters have usually been his best so he isn't having trouble running out the game. I reckon he's worried about not giving a free kick away too much and it has taken his focus off the ball.

I dont think there is any doubt he gets the rawest deal since Plugger came to Sydney in the frees for and against. Its his look, rep and physicality. Do you remember what Silvagni used to get away with against Plugger? That was criminal. Baz gets mugged off the ball week in, week out while players like Riewoldt and Lloyd get a free when someone brushes their jumper.
