Re: blakey

Still don't like how he repeatedly looks behind himself when going for a mark. Eyes on the ball Marky!

Re: blakey

Is that you forrrest?

 oohhh you're lucky I don't ban you for that.

He did play well and I think he has overall been better than Ottens for the last few weeks, but tonight he played against the bottom side and he looked like a genius. But I agree he is sticking it to his critics, which I love.

Re: blakey

Yeh, I was one of his biggest critics, and even though the age quoted me on how bad blakey was, I realy loved his game tonight. There's still a bit of the three legged dog in my love for Blakey, but I think he's definitely picked it up a notch. Well done son.

Poor form from me, I admit, but I couldn't resist.:D I promise I will be good from now on.;)

Mark Blake

I am the first to put my hand up and admit I have been a 'Blake basher', in fact, I have probably been one of his worst critics. Whilst many people on this board agreed with my line of thinking, there were others that stuck by him and saw something that was obviously very very difficult to see - kudos to you guys.

What I witnessed tonight was a complete transformation from what I have become accustomed to for the last year. Superb game tonight Mark Blake. Not only did he absolutely dominate the ruck and hit the ball wherever he wanted to, he also took contested marks and was very handy around the ground. Numerous times he man handled his opponent out of the way to win the ball and at one stage he even backed back into a pack to take a contested mark, something I honestly thought I would never see from him!

I'm not going to go over the top, because he hasn't completely won me over yet, but tonight he has gone leaps and bounds to proving himself. I know he has been fairly consistent the last few weeks but tonight he was excellent, I think even forrest would admit that. Hope it is a sign of things to come.

Very impressed with Blakes' game last night. He's evolving into a top notch ruckmen just when we need him too.

Wasn't so long ago there were calls that he'd never be more than a 2nd ruck player. He gave us an insight last night (and in the previous weeks) into how we shouldn't write a player off or pigeon hole him in the middle of the season.

Well done Mark.:thumbsu:

He's been great all year, and he's getting great reward for his work.

I still cannot believe how many shortsighted Geelong supporters had written him off, even as late as a few months ago.

He's development this year has been extraordinary, and if he can continue to develop we're going to have an excellent ruckman to lead our team over the next 7-8 years.

ease up, has played better when otto has returned, and he plays as a second ruck
was not awesome early on

Agreed Mm. Plus how good was his no-look handball over the top to Ling, I think it was in the first. His touch when he handballs seems to be quite good.

I believe he's been good all year.

He's improved every week, and obviously having Ottens beside him has helped (as it would with anyone).

No objectivity, either.

Fantastic game last night , best Ive seen of him. Now he has to continue with the exact same confidence in the not so one sided matches.

It's impressive how much he has improved his weaknesses. His Kicking is much much better, his decision making improved and the extra bulk is helping him hold his ground in the ruck contests. The guy has obviously worked really hard, and while he's not number one yet, as a number 2 he's doing very well.

One thing that has really surprised and impressed me is his ball-handling when its on the deck. He is so clean, doesnt fumble much at all. Coming along very very nicely...the King-lovers have gone vewy vewy quiet...:D
