Apparently in the past tour matches have been played on green tops completely different to realistic match conditions, so they decided to dust up some practice wickets at home instead.

And gave players an opportunity to play some Big Bash too.

Ashwin and Jadeja are all time greats, but even so, considering what they and Murphy have done on this pitch. How did Lyon get 1/120 odd? Should be first in line for criticism.

Lyon’s got enough credits in the bank that one match of poor returns should be overlooked. People trying to say he’s past it but he took 47 wickets last year at an average of 29; I think he took more wickets than any other bowler in 2022.

It's not like he's been tonked around the park either. Economy rate of 2 and a half is decent enough.

Yeah, he just didn’t create many chances. It happens. If he gets to the end of the series and hasn’t gotten any better then it will be time to start asking questions.

The bowling wasn’t good enough but when you score 268 across 2 innings on a pitch that clearly wasn’t a minefield, it’s pretty obvious that the batting was the main deficiency in this match.

Lyon is really more of an over spinner compared to the other 3 who are side spinners .

It why Lyon has done so well in Australia getting wickets with more bounce and less spin .

Then poor in low bounce conditions like sub continent where his lack of side spin and variety (arm ball / wrong un / doosra) makes him much less dangerous.

Agar would have the same problem as Lyon.
