Would hardly say Khawaja has only played well in been in 1 test TBH.

377 runs at 47 suggests otherwise.
Considering 206 of his 377 runs came in one test, I would.
Of the other 6 innings he's had a decent 77 and a poor 17, a poor 13 and 43 and a very poor 3 and 18. Over the other 3 tests he's averaged less than 30.

He's our leading run scorer and really only had one bad game. Which was the last one.

Excellent first test.
Good second test.
Average third and poor 4th test.

Continually getting sent in and getting the worst of the batting conditions.

He's also not getting much help from his opening partner which doesn't help.

Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Mark Wood has had a big impact on England’s resurgence in the series.

No doubt he is very slippery but it goes to show this current generation of batsmen have little experience against extreme pace compared to 20 odd years ago.

I’m certain that Brett Lee used to regularly be up around 154km/h in Test spells. Shoaib Akhtar similar. Even Shane Bond used to crank it up around the 150km/h mark when he wasn’t injured. Mohammad Zahid from Pakistan was rapid too but was also injury prone.

Bowlers that on occasion crack 150km/h now are Wood, Nortje and…can’t think of any others.
CC already beat me to it...Umran Malik is a young Indian pace bowler who actually cracked 160km a couple years ago. Unfortunately he currently has the control of a rotary sprinkler.

This English side is so full of itself it’s not funny

Anderson has been a very good bowler but it’s his amazing longevity that’s seen him become the highest wicket taking fast bowler (technically he’s more medium than fast)

But there’s at least 10 bowlers ahead of him. In no particular order - Lillee, Hadlee, Akram, Steyn, Ambrose, McGrath, Marshall, Donald, Holding, Walsh

*ing hell. Why are we hearing all of these crazy things now Australia has retained the Ashes. Plenty of times a test or even series is decided by rain. Plenty of times we have had a drawn Ashes series, hence the holder of the Ashes retains them. Plenty of times I have felt we have been the better team and lost and vice versa.

It seems there won’t be justice until all rules and conventions are upended so that England can claim victory in defeat to justify their w#nkfest over Bazball when so far pretty bloody poor conventional cricket has actually won the day (or test).
Yes, it just all seems to boil down to 'we don't like losing so lets change things so we can win coz we deserve to win coz we played amazing cricket but we didn't win and thats so not fair'
The obvious elephant in the room is that they were celebrating wildly when they won/retained the ashes due to bad weather. There's been several elephants in the room this series...Bairstow stumping another one.
They just drank too much of their own bazball bathwater in the end...and now they're delirious.

In The Worst today there is an article saying that young Mahli Beardman from Dampier, who has just been selected for the Australian U19 side, has already been clocked in the mid 150s.

Would be exciting to see him and Morris in the Shield line up this summer.

Didn't Morris injure his back or something earlier this year, hence why he wasn't in the Ashes squad? I think he is fine now but not sure. I would like to get him in the team sooner rather than later. At least for one of those tests where one of the main three is injured or resting. Our bowlers are aging and their pace is generally down a bit. We need to start rejuvenating the team. Now to find some batters...

Keys, you really should listen to Stokes. He knows what he's talking about. Being the greatest Test captain of all time, gives one insight that plebs like you will never possess.

Selectors went for Neser and Boland over Morris.

An excerpt from a Gideon Haigh article in The Australian.
Spot on I reckon.

"All the same, as unpopular as it will be to say, this otherwise excellent Ashes summer has been soured by a leering and bullying streak in English cricket that masquerades as banter but is no more than abuse – an abuse of the licence that the two countries have traditionally allowed themselves to poke fun at one another in cricket affairs.

Maybe we could take a lesson from the players who’ve handled themselves so gracefully under a great deal more pressure."

Spencer Johnson will be the next fast bowling permanent member of the Aussie X1 I reckon. He should be around the squad this summer.

If Jhye gets his body fit I see he and Johnson as the next great Aussie pairing.
