In at a base price of 20 lakh. Punjab Kings have their paddles up. Sold to Kings. Oh, wait, think Kings didn't want this player. Some confusion. But the hammer has gone down, so Shashank will go to Kings.
Apparently they bid for the wrong Shashank. Hope the bloke has a great time at the club who didn't want him.

I cannot believe it took 7 hours for someone to come up with a Shawshank Redemption reference.
I kept logging on and checking... and waiting... and waiting... and finally. Thank you 249.

7 of the 16 Aussies who picked up IPL contracts were Western Australian.

1.7 million for Spencer Johnso is insane.
He’s been impressive but I find the fascination with him too much. He’s 28 and he’s sorta been treated like a kid that burst onto the scene but in fact it took him till nearly 30 to become a decent domestic cricketer. I’d throw up is he makes his make into the test set up with a proper block of shield games

Starc is one of the few that will be worth every dollar. Those yorkers early in the innings decide matches.

Did he not also sit out of numerous IPL seasons to stay fresh in order to represent Australia at his best? Got no problem with him making bank now after doing the honourable thing by putting the cash to one side to prepare for Aus representation.

Yeah for all the crap Starc gets for being too expensive at times, he’s been a very good bowler and a fixture in the attack for a decade, and has always made it clear that his biggest priority was to represent his country and make sure his body could hold up for red ball cricket. By no means do I begrudge anybody who wants to make a truckload of money in the limited time that they have as a professional athlete - this is a business, after all - but guys like Starc who pass up the riches of global T20 leagues to put their national duties first deserve extra credit in my view.

And yeah, I thought that Spencer Johnson figure was a misprint when I first read it. Would be very surprised if that goes well for Gujarat.

And I have to say that I don’t rate Cummins that highly as a T20 bowler. Still very good but his economy rate is worse than Starc, Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson, Hazlewood and any number of quicks who will be making way less money than him. Handy lower order bat but that’s a crazy amount of money to pay for a guy who doesn’t really have the variations that a lot of the elite quicks do.
