Clearly the ACB need to consult Stokes, Bairstow, Broad etc for clarification on where this sits in the spirit of cricket

I mean the ball wasn’t in play now was it

Curran is checking his run up, It's not safe to do that properly off of the pitch. Whoever the official was should have just let him do the one run through from that end towards the edge of the pitch like he did at the other end.

Just bizarre.

yet everyone else manages it. weird that.

Power gone to the umpires heads, just being over officious.

All part of todays look at me, look at me world.

It doesn't really matter whether the umpire should have let Curran run on the edge of the wicket or not. Once the umpire said not to, Curran should have respected that. Even if he doesn't agree with the decision, he sure as shit shouldn't have essentially run through the umpire but for the umpire moving.

Give it a spell. Not safe to run on grass?

It is against the laws of the game for any player other than the Captains to step on the pitch prior to play commencing. How dare the umpire enforce the laws of the game- that's not his job surely?

You've got that one all wrong there Phil. You're not allowed to do it, every cricketer knows that. That's why bowlers do warm ups parallel to the pitch or somewhere else entirely.

He was literally doing what he is paid to do. Would have been derelict in his duty not to stop it.
Curren was the one who turned it into a circus by not taking direction and charging at the Umpire- it was a bizarr act. This is all on him and nothing to do with umpire ego or over officiating.

Stiff shit. Sort it out when you start your spell in the game.

Don't have a problem with them enforcing the punishment for disrespect per se, it's just a strange time to start implementing stringent punishment.

A four match ban.

I have over the years seen many far more disrespectful and intimidating action towards Umpires, both in Australia at State level and on the International stage, many of which went either unpunished, or lodged, perhaps had the Match Referees over the years been more consistent in metering out punishment, things may have never got to this.

If you are going to enforce the laws of the game , then for God sake be consistent with the enforcement both in severity of punishment and frequency on enforcement.

The officials loose creditability, IMO, by picking and choosing when they administer and hold up the rules of the game.

Four match ban for that, yet players "verbals" back to umpires when given out and begrudgingly slowly walking off the ground and bowlers vigorously debating with umpires for a not out decision and they go unpunished.

Be consistent and my beef with the decision abates.

Mate, I've NEVER seen an incident like this. First time it's ever happened.
