I do! But then I may also be blinded. Just about every Tuesday. superparma.com also appear to rate them, however, as number 5. That said, I've noticed it's been getting smaller, of late.
Twas pretty bloody big tonight! They're consistent too, I've never had a bad one.

chinese - this little place in an alleyway off collins street near spencer street. (noodles - $4.80)

and for peking duck - da hu on the cnr of russell and little bourke. (whole duck - $39.90)

That chinese place is sensational - I used to work near them and often went the prawns and vegies with steamed rice and a massive home made dimmy for lunch......awesome!!

For Peking Duck, try Old Kingdom in Smith St Fitzroy - as well as amazing food (quality and value), the owner/chef Simon is hysterical!

There's also a Singh's (same family/owners) in Lygon Street, East Brunsick (near the corner of Barkly Street).

Same food & cheap take aways - also with proper dine in facilities. IIRC the one in Nth Fitzroy is take away only. BYO is an added bonus.

I really should start a thread on the other Lygon Street (East Brunswick). Probably the most under rated (or least known) and best value food strip on the planet.

i call him the duck nazi :D i like old kingdoms duck better, but at da hu you get better pancakes, no cucumber, they arent anal about bringing out more condiments and you get ALL of the duck. i can do without the fried rice and soup. i want as much of that duck in pancakes as i can.

ive edited my post for that chinese place too.

I also mentioned the moroccan soup kitchen in st georges road nth fitzroy. If you haven't been there you should try it - yummy :thumbsu:

Yeah, I've been there. Absolutely dirt cheap and the food is pretty good.

It's got a good atmosphere as well (despite being full of idealistic lefty-uni-student-inner-city-champagne-socialist-vegetarian-hug-the-tree-greenie types)

I discovered Pelligrini's only two months ago. I love that joint. In and out in 25 minutes, no bullshiit, awesome food, excellent coffee, and those ice-drink things which are possibly the most aweseomess things in the CBD.
When I was young we'd visit Pellegrini's every time we were in Melbourne which was about twice a year as all the rellies live thereabouts. I remember almost getting a backhander once when I whined that I wanted McDonald's!

Had the best and cheapest pizza a few saturdays back down Portsea way, cant even remember where we were or what it was called. Could of been Ozone or something, will get back to you on it. Only 5.50 for a large pizza, but it was the best, most greasiest and flavour filled pizza ever. Just awesome.

I work in the building over the top of roosevelt's in collins street and while the burgers are good, if you don't believe anything else i tell you you must try danny's at 360 St George's road Fitzroy north.

I have not been there for over a year but a year is just a pimple on the life span on this institution.

And seeing as others have quoted Mietta's guide let me do also.

Danny's Take-away Meals
Since 1945, the Morihovit family have been grilling meat for Melbourne. Fantastic hamburgers here till 3am. No wonder people queue up at Danny's and taxi cabs line the road. But it's not just being able to eat in the wilds of North Fitzroy in the early hours of the morning, it's sitting at the great curved bar - you, your stool and your burger. You can stare at Marilyn Monroe or at the pictures of the footballers.

Owners Nick and George (is there a Danny?) are there from noon every day at the spotlessly clean grill.

360 St Georges Road
Fitzroy North
Melways reference 30:C11
Phone: 9481 5847
Opening hours: Sun-Thur 12 noon-2am, Fri-Sat 12 noon-3am
BYO
Does not accept credit cards
Seats Inside: 14

To try it is to be converted.
