While it was a shocker of a night for the blues I still think one of the few positives that took place was Irish and the way he went about it. Alot of people thought his career was over this year but I think its only just beginning.

Not sure a toast is in order. He did his job tonight but we will not win a premiership while O'hAilpin is in our best 22.

Deadshit post of the evening and there have been some. :thumbsu:

Fev had a disaster, gets killed by Pears of all people and snipers Irish. Was looking very very good was Setanta until Fev decided to impose himself. That first collision was just ****en stupid and selfish on Fevs part. The second was just unlucky, i think Pears collected him that time. Hopefully he takes confidence from that first quarter because it was very very promising.

agree completely C23, That act of Fev's was totally selfish and Carlos is looking very promising.

ball barely went forward after half time - irish took good, contested marks, something unfortunately we cant seem to get anyone else to do up forward.

curlier than a catoggio pube

Good signs last night from Carlos. If we're looking to make a genuine assault on the flag in 2011 he could be a wildcard up forward. Another year and a half experience at senior level would do him wonders and at 27, he would be in the prime aged bracket for a KPP.

he gives his all every time and shows glimpses of rare talent and athleticism, I think the last 2 weeks have shown he is well worth persisting with. He could play an Earl Spalding type role busting open packs for our crumbers.

As for Ratten, when does his contract expire? there is a wealth of coaching talent floating around - Leigh Matthews, perhaps Malthouse, perhaps Mark Williams, Nathan Buckley etc

I hope we keep our options open because we aren't getting much out of what we have...we're not world beaters but have enough talent not to dish up last night's rubbish, ditto the match vs Freo, vs Adelaide, vs Sydney where we were totally tactically outpointed.

Loved his first half, showed signs that he has the potential to be a decent marking forward, drifted out of the game in the second half but definitely a positive to take from a dismal performance.

And you continue to post dribble.

Stood out in the first half with some excellent contested marking.
3 contested marks in the first quarter. He was creative.

Did he come back on after quarter time?

I wish he had stayed in the same position and that Fev didn't bloody drive him into the ground. How could you be that stupid? Do they speak out on the ground?

Does Fev yell "mine" these days? Pretty simple football... Fev obviously missed the week in Auskick where they were taught how to communicate.

Setanta was brilliant last night, had a brain explosion where he missed a goal on a snap without settling himself but he was good, even though some big F-wit smashed him in the back to stop his momentum instead of screaning for him, and did it more than once.

Has done enough to warrant himself a new contract IMHO ...

It is amazing how so many other posters wanted him gone after Cloke-Gate, this is a really inspirational and great story of how carlos has managed to put all the crap behind him, has really disciplined himself and worked his arse off, controlled his firey Irish Temper, and is now a solid starting 18 player.

If everyone in the side played with the same passion and intensity that Carlos does week in, week out, we would never lose a game.

He's got something that sadly a lot of our senior players are missing right now, and that is called TICKER ...

He didn't have a brain explosion on that snap, the umpire let the Bombers player stand within touching distance & therefore he was barely able to take a step out.

I can tell you something I nearly had a brain explosion at the umpire when that happened.

Was great early, but those hits must have taken a toll on him because he faded. Given how little ball we won at stoppages that might not be any of the forwards' fault.

Setanta's done more at CHF than anyone else has since Big Red was fit.

That really gave me the shits that Fev was so determined in showing off that he smashed into the back of Setanta, a guy who had already taken numerous contested marks.

Yeah, I doubt he was any further than 3 metres from Irish. That umpire is an imbecile.

The moron went in and actually tried to push the Bombers player back! If he's that close when the player is coming in, you pay fifty - not go in and try to shephard the player away...

What a pointless post. If he keeps progressing the way he has this year, in a year and a half he is going to be a star. Just need to get the experience into him which showed on that snap. If he had of waited for a few more seconds and even signaled to the umpire i'm sure the 50 would of been paid, instead he rushed it. But that all comes down to experience and with another 20 games in his legs Im sure he could be a very good player who opposition sides would find it very hard to match up on as Lovett-Murray found... athleticism aswell as height. I cant wait personally.

I went absolutely nuts when that happened. I think the Carlton members around me thought i was suffering from tourettes. I'm glad i wasn't the only one who was pissed off by that.

Thought Carlos played pretty good, took a couple of good grabs although getting cannoned into by Fev and Pears.
At least when this bloke gets a game he's competetive and plays like he wants to WIN unlike some of the other passengers.
I love Carlo's hardness,we need more of it:thumbsu:
