Now guys, dont hate me. It's just a rumour so dont go bashing me here. I have a good friend of mine who has inside information about Robin Nahas being a done deal to GWS. Will we get anything for him? And if so, what? Discuss.

In away I hope it's true because he would then be the only player they could get from us.... over the next 2 years.

I'm not saying I want him to go, just that it protects our bigger named players from leaving. Sacrificial lamb so to speak.....

Fair call too nut, still kinda hope it's not true.

I suspect this thread will be closed, until such rumour becomes officially reported?

Doing well this year but will struggle massively in a new team with no big bodies to protect him. Hardly the type to build a side around.

If we're going to lose anyone to GWS then I won't shed tears if it is him, hopefully we'll get another end of 1st round compensation pick for him.

Considering what Geelong got for Ablett, it would be likely be a 2nd rounder for Nahas at best.

However, I just remembered a quote from a recent Nahas article.

Contract talks have already started for Nahas, but he won't even consider that as a security - there is too much to achieve this year, and too many traps he has fallen into before.

"I don't want to leave this club," he says. "It has given me my opportunity. I owe them a lot. Hopefully I can repay them with plenty of years of consistent football.

"I don't want to come in, have a little go and then say, 'See you later'. I want to stay and hopefully build towards a succesful era for the Richmond Football Club."

After saying that I doubt this rumour is true. Was only a few weeks ago. He's right too, wouldn't be playing AFL if not for Richmond.

I would like to know if they are limited to 1 player per club over 2 years. If he does go it's stop our other players threatening to leave for more money.

That's correct, one out of contract player per club over the two years. If, say, Thursfield (just using an example here) were to be out of contract at the end of 2011, and GWS picked him up, they could not then take another out of contract player from us at the end of 2012 (unless a normal trade was done of course).

It would save us alot of money if someone like Nahas did leave. And plus Nahas loves the club so much he would donate the extra he gets from GWS to the FTF :D

Remember that Richmond has sounded GWS out about a trade for a 17yo.

I'd imagine that'd go for a late 1st/early 2nd round pick...Nahas might qualify.

Exactly my thoughts there Telsor, Though nahas has been good this year he really is not a top liner and in my view is playing at his highest level ATM.

I would be wrapped if we could package both thursfield & nahas for the 17 yo that we are looking at & possibly a compensation 2nd rounder from the afl thrown in for cream.

Remember Guys sheedy was a Tiger once upon a time

Spot on:thumbsu: Would much rather a Nahas than a Deledio,Martin or a Cotchin.

In a pecuilar way we might get more in compensation, than we would on the open market.

I'm currently thinking this of him and King, cashing in now could be a very astute move by the club.

So were Geischen and Broderick;)

This may be what the rumor has generated from. But as someone else said we would have to be offering more than just him to get a look in.

His Lebanese decent could be exploited and may be worth a bit to GWS in marketing dollars in the local community....

Isn't there a rule stopping GWS (and previously the GCS) from signing players mid year? Weren't they only allowed to do it in the of season.

If that's true, there's no way Nahas would have signed already as his form last year did not warrant being chased in the off season.

If Sheedy has anything to do with recruitment decisions, you know his first option has always been for big backmen. I doubt Nahas would be sitting at the top of their wishlist. Rance, McGuane, Gourdis, Thursfield would be in his sights I'd reckon before a small forward.

Just a hunch.

Ive loved Nahas since he came in and showed our forward line what was to be done when the other side had the ball.

Giants (still hate the name) have an extended list, chokkers with young talent and plenty of zip.

Robin will add little to their playing squad, but can serve as an example of how hard you have to work to step up, and his ethnicity I think is rare in the game at the moment and is worth a LOT to GWS.

Houli would be worth more imho, the 2 of them would be a real coup and would be a great op for GWS to engage with a large segment of their community that are likelt disinterested. And thats what GWS are all about.

Houli has really come on and is showing some poise and skill that should see him in plenty of 21s.

I know nothing about how these things work will be interesting to see how GWS go about it. I doubt GCS are finished being an active trader either.
