Some stuff i listen to.

Naglfar - Swedish Melodic Black Metal band, 5 albums, well worth checking out.

Ahab - German Funeral Doom Metal band, 2 albums, one of the best Funeral Doom bands going around.

Daylight Dies - An American Melodic Death/Doom Metal band, an underrated band, much better than Katatonia. 3 albums and 1 on the way.

Dark Fortress - German Black Metal band, arguably my favourite Black Metal band. 6 albums and everyone of them different. This song should put the chills in ya. :thumbsu:

Destruction - German Thrash Metal band. Everybody raves on about the American big 4 of Thrash Metal. I say, piss them off and get into the German big 4 of Thrash Metal, Kreator, Destruction, Sodom and Tankard. What Americans do in Metal, the Germans do it better. :thumbsu:

Because i have only heard the "varjoina" song from that album, not the entire album, but I will order it though. :)

thats the first word in the name of the album. :p the song was kuolleiden maa or something. ;)

On a completely different subject, I always hated this album when it came out and from then on pretty much just hated Meshuggah after DEI, but as of yesterday I can't stop listening to it. Talk about delayed reaction. I'm not getting any work done..

i still cant get into that album. i pretty much skip to rational gaze then to straws pulled at random. stengah sets the tone overall for me, i dont really enjoy that song at all and find it hard from there.

Spirit of the Night

Under a Frozen Sun.

They've only made two albums and I have both of their CDs. :D Basically, they're a Dissection worship band.

Love the description:

"Ice Cold Blackened death metal that Storms"

Again Lone Wolf thanks for sharing. Never heard of these guys, but have now downloaded Fallen Angels Dominion to digest whilst working today......

Those Thulcandra songs are pretty good, will give them a good listen today at work. :) Just checking out the Abyssos song now, now bad. A bit too 'gothicy' for my tastes.. And just when I say that it gets stuck into 2 mins of Dissection Worship riffs. :p

LW: Yes was a big fan of Immortal as one of the pioneers of Black Metal. Had a road trip to Canberra on the weekend and was listening to 'Battles in the North', and I am and always been a fan of Emperor.

I assume you listen to Burzum? Some of Varg's stuff really does my head in, in a disturbing way.

Since you listen finnish pagan in you're top 10, what did you think of Tyr's most recent album? I need to listen to it more, but nothing in comparison to 'Land'.

Was listening to Insomnium this morning during my run, will listen to them more.

Re your comment about Dark Funeral, I am a huge fan, not so much of Dark Fortress. There was a show they did in New york at BB Kings, and Caligua is so powerful as a performer, he explained 666 voices inside in the intro before the song......must say a few of us in the audience were left scratching our heads going....yeah!

Anyone heard of lacrimosa?

give it a go.

Noneuclid - Progressive Metal from Germany - started life as a side project for Santura of Dark Fortress.

He recruited a few members from Dark Fortress and put out the bands only album 'The Crawling Chaos'. Linus Klausenitzer was recruited by Obscura after they fired the legendary Jeroen Paul Thesseling, however Klausenitzer is still an active member of Noneuclid. The band is currently signed to Merciless Records, and while they have not released any new material in 3 years, they remain active. Morean recently stated in an interview that the band was on a brief hold due to obligations to Dark Fortress and Klausenitzer being tied up with Obscura's Omnivium tour. He claims that Noneuclid is currently writing new material and their second album should be released some time in 2012.

Members:

Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura, Fallacy) - Bass
Seraph (Dark Fortress, Daylight Misery) - Drums
Morean (Dark Fortress) - Guitars
V. Santura (Dark Fortress, Triptykon) - Guitars

Some other stuff worth a look - sorry no links..no youtube access at work.

Bane - Blackened Death Metal from Serbia
Obsydian - Blackened Death Metal from Canada
Pyrrhon - Technical Death Metal from New York
Saeculum Obscurum - Melodic Death Metal from Germany

Since I love Dark Fortress, I have this band bookmarked. Be interesting to hear Morean play guitar.

Its probably been a decase or so since I listened to it, but I dusted off my 'Blood Devine' cd last night, have a listen, its the ex-vocalist from Anathema.

I remember Blood Divine, have both their albums. Probably been just as long that I haven't listened to them too (although your post inspired me to chuck on the albums before, while at work).

I'm a huge Anathema fan, but have sort have grown away from Darren White's vocals a little over the years - looking back it was a great move by Anathema to get rid of him. I find him more difficult to listen to with the cleaner vocals in The Blood Divine, than in early Anathema.

From memory, didn't The Blood Divine also have some ex-Cradle of Filth members too, I think? (from when CoF were good)

I remember my favourite song of theirs was Wilderness, but I can't find it on youtube. :thumbsd:

This was another I liked...

Good pick of song.

I have not seriously listened to it for more than a decade, yes members are all ex COF.
