This can be minimised if you click on the diagonal arrow button - though the 3 lines menu icon was clearer imo, this one usually means external link.

Yeah I've been using that, but that's my main way of navigating through the site, it seems impractical that you now need to minimise and maximise it when you want to use it.

Post your feedback and issues with the new style in this thread.

The new style unifies our mobile and desktop themes. It is an updated version of the old style with many fixes, as well as discarding a lot of hacks introduced over the years.

Known issues and observations:

Club board button in header goes to main forum list: This is being fixed as you read this.

Watch Console: Missing in mobile. An easy fix, this one is up next on the to do list. Will be fixed by this arvo.

Mobile site shows extra Inbox and Alerts buttons in the header even when the Inbox and Alerts options are available below.

Mobile site does not show club supported in user info box.

Mobile site shows all medals in user info box. This is not that great for users with many medals. Maybe limit to the first 3 or 4 medals? Remove entirely as with the old mobile style?

Mobile site menu is no longer slide-in.

General vibe that there needs to be a little more delineation between posts - perhaps a stronger lower border line?

FIXED

"Other Teams" now show in user info box.
On my Huawei, it works better widescreen rather than straight up and down which I prefer to browse in

As mentioned in the OP - the menu is no longer a slide-in. We've tried to find something to replicate that, but nothing so far. It is an aim to get that back.

As was mentioned before, the club badge takes you to the main forum listing -
Code:
https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/forums//
- guessing it's not picking up the forum navigating from the old version correctly or some such.

Yes, as was mentioned in the OP as a known issue. Keep up, bro! :)

I moved the user's team to the list with 'joined', 'posts', and 'location', and added an alternating background colour for each row. Here is a side-by-side comparison:

Thanks - I see it now. I'm probably not going to make that change.

It does seem to nest differently than the old one, but i'm on a large resolution so it's not in the way for me.

The mobile theme could use a line bar between posts too, and on iOS Chrome the Share and Tweet buttons both side a couple of pixels higher than the others on the same line - can prove screenshot if you need.

Massive issues with the mobile theme

XN1kuoK.jpg

  1. Club icon is not aligned with globe and message icons (which are themselves duplicated)
  2. Side bar opening button (highlighted with red arrow) blocks the home button
  3. Alignment of Share and Tweet buttons is clearly wrong
  4. Vertical alignment of quotes is wrong
  5. Way too much white space (highlighted in green). This is a mobile theme, density is very important. The space below the BigFooty logo is completely unnecessary. The space between the thread title and the page counter should be removed and the "top contributors" button either removed or relocated. The watch thread button should also be streamlined.
  6. The space to the right of the user info is glaring. Could relocate things like the post date into there which would increase post density. Also missing key information like the team supported.
  7. (Not shown) Badge icons are badly misaligned as well, should be in line with the names
  8. I would remove the club board shortcuts entirely that are below the "clubs" title and to the right of the search icon. Completely unnecessary for mobile users and not something that's used all that frequently, plus you could just navigate using the main menu.
I have a phone with a 2280 x 1080 (taller than normal) display and I'd be lucky to see three one-line posts that include a quote on the screen

And that's just on the topic view.

On the thread listing page:
  1. Why is there a "trending likes" section on mobile, that's utterly unnecessary and a huge waste of space
  2. Thread titles should be larger and easier to read in comparison to the reply count and "minutes ago" text which is the same size. I'd question whether the reply count and page numbers are necessary on a mobile screen; the page numbers can be seen on the topic view anyway

Any chance of changing the font, it hard to read and blurry and hard to read after a while.
Sorry forgot to add, using a desk top,
I do like the layout its just hard to read due to the font even when I expand to fit a full size 24" screen

or is there a way to increase the font size or change it.

I have pretty good eye sight but the dimming of the like, reply and quote buttons on posts are quite hard to see. Anyone older would struggle with this, I would imagine.
If you move your cursor over the post it actually lights up the buttons you speak about.

Which bits do you think work better?
When widescreen all the menu options, alerts, inbox etc are available and we can see posters teams and all that when posting

When regular screen it seems to be hidden or crammed up or not all showing

Geez... I can see why a Change Manager was required at work and why they get paid good money!

It was broken before, hence the fix. Just be patience as you adapt.

I think the changes are great, looks a lot more modern and won't take too long to adjust.

I agree with Alyx though, the avatar/info section doesn't mesh well. I also think the borders are the posts need to be a little darker or thicker.

If the top 2 bars; BigFooty logo and the club icons etc... could be merged with the username / currently board 'tab' / 3 bar menu button, that would clear some vertical space too.

Thanks for the update chief, just a few personal things on the mobile site:

-viewing who other posters support should come back, it makes discussion about club topics make more sense.

-Navigation has slightly gone backwards. I love optimising ways of getting to threads with minimum button pressing.

-Needs a clearer differentiation between posts and/or replies. I think someone mentioned before darker borders maybe? Too white. It just looks like 1 page-long post if you scroll quickly.

- the ‘share’ and ‘tweet’ links are slightly elevated compared to the ‘report’, ‘like’ and ‘reply’ links

1. A small CSS tweak - not a massive issue for now.
2. Yep - will adjust that. Right now the logo also goes to the forum home page.
3. Yes - a small CSS adjustment will fix that.
4. In what way?
5. Maybe - CSS tweaks will trim that. Might be an errant ad block in there too.
6. Maybe. I don't think this one will be changed a lot.
7. Maybe. A CSS tweak will fix that. More likely medals will not show in mobile.
8. To the left of the search icon? These are used quite regularly and are the feature most people immediately noticed as missing during the testing phase.

Laptop.

As demonstrated, the number of alerts is still there even though I have "checked" them.

yep, happening for me too

another one - on the navigation panel on a club board, it no longer displays Forums. It displays like this

Home -> Clubs -> Adelaide instead of Home -> Forums -> Clubs -> Adelaide

mostly it looks fantastic. well done on the implementation
