Kennedy is in his 2nd season! Surely there are worse second year players so far. Oh and by the way, KPP types take longer than midfielders so give the kid time. That is not a biased opinion, i just firmly believe that Kennedy has the potential to hold down CHF in years to come he just needs to be given the time to grow into it and supporters needs to have patience with him. Definately showing signs.

As for Livo...
Yes, well done Shane O'Sullivan for recruiting a hack but I for some reason i was always under the illusion that Livo was a Full Forward when he came to the club but was played at the other end of the ground. I'm not at all defending the bloke but i wonder if things wouldve been different if he'd been played in his correct position

The Bombers have had pretty bad aim with their early picks - way more misses than hits.
It's incredible they avoided the bottom four for so long really, but most of their good players have come from the later picks and also the rookie draft.

The early drafts were an inexact science, for sure. I agree with you, all clubs are similar, but it just seems to me like the Bombers have had more than their share. Maybe it's because the Bomber crowd always pumped up their young players like McAlister, Davies, Ukovic, Prior, Heff, etc so when they didn't live up to initial expectations, it registered as a disappointment.

The Pies have had some even bigger shockers, but for some reason there wasn't much of a blip on the radar: Danny Roach, Billy Morrison, etc. Perhaps everyone was too busy focusing on Josh Fraser. Now there's a disappointment. The number 1 pick was going to the biggest thing since sliced bread. Early on he looked like a champion in the making, but he's just never really strung many good games together.

Some good points later on, but no point talking about the 1980s, esp with interstaters, unless you also know whether they actually joined the club. Unlike now when only players interested in being in the draft are picked in the draft (revolutionary, hey?), the 'draft' in the 1980s was just a way of putting dibs on interstate players in case you could ever persuade them to cross the border. Many of them had never expressed the slightest interest in playing VFL, and never would.

Payze, for example, just sat in Adelaide and sucked up the player retention money from the SANFL (until the Crows came along). Unless there were multiple Michael Taylors, Geelong picked at #5 in the 1986 draft a 30+ yo guy who had already done his 4 year tour of duty for Collingwood and had returned to play out his remaining years with Norwood. Essendon's pick 100 in the 1989 ND was David Pittman; would have been a great-value grab if he ever went to Essendon. As it was, the 'drafting' made absolutely no difference to him wearing the Crows colours in 1991 and beyond. No doubt the Jamie Cox drafted from Wynyard in 1987 had a good hard think about it, but decided cricket was for him, thanks. The idea that you'd think of drafting blokes like this is surreal now, but it was par for the course then.

How can you judge Alwyn from 5 AFL games, which showed some fantastic signs. Hope he doesn't bomb out like his brother.

Bradley at 6, but the best player after him that I saw in that draft was Stanton, so we did alright, I guess.

If ever two brothers have started their careers the same way, its those 2. Aaron hardly ever chases ppl down from behind successfully anymore because teams have smartened up to it, and he plays more as a wingman rather than pocket. Same thing will happen to Alwyn as well
