Ben "Biggie" Griffiths 4 from 4 your spot is safe in the team whilst this win % continues. His chasing was very good today and slotting that goal really turned the momentum back in our favour after Dustin mint goal from the clearance.

today was the first real chance we got to see his kicking in play, and boy can he roost a footy! just needs to start plucking some grabs and he will start kicking bags!

But agree, his spot is safe unless he gets injured i think!

Was going to say, that goal which Tin Tin kicked followed by Griffs and then his tackle was good stuff from the first year players. Got us back into the game.

I personally think he's struggling a little bit, but I really hope he stays in the side and we get games into him. He's a really nice size.

No question he is struggling a little in the 1 on 1's but the return we may reap from him staying in there for now far outweighs sitting him at the burgers for mine. I like what the club is doing with him, I personally think he is playing his role very well though. On occasion JR had LRT come over the top and take the mark over him but thats when the Richmond Midfielder has to realise kick it too Griff and be 2 1 on 1s, therefore greater chance.

Geez he is gonna be good if he stays injury free.

He wont have too much of an impact this year but is just out there to learn, still chases hard and puts a lot of pressure on. Two very good things to start learning while he is trying to get fitness and strength to impact a game.

My prediction for Big Ben is a 3-4 goal haul before seasons end! Very impressive game today from young Ben!

That quick pick up and handball in the last quarter showed what a good player he will be.Great below the knees.

I thought the same thing...what a burst through, great pickup and bullet handball straight to a teammate. 98kgs already but looks like he could put another 10kgs on without losing too much agility. Will be an absolute beast!

he's struggled at times, dropping what I thought he would have swallowed then pops up with a great handball thru traffic, the fact we're winning will buy him another game or two...love his agility and hoof...would benefit from a spell at Coburg in a week or two

Needs to, and will play (apart from a body rest) play seniors all year.

According to Dimma -
we just need to play these players, and as much as it's a learning process, they learn better at AFL level. No disrespect, but we've got Justin Leppitsch as defensive coach, we've got Danny Daly who's coached forwards - we've got great coaches up here, so let's teach them at the highest level. We've got great vision, great resources so we can go and teach them how to play the game.

his impact on hames has been far from major, but the best thing is he works hard, tackles and provides a contest when the ball goes to ground, and it is those traits that set tall fowards apart.

add that to his speed, sticky hands and booming kick and he looks a very promising player.

i cant wait till he builds his strength, of course he is a big boy and can generally outbump most of his opponents, but when he is all muscle and his body strentgh improves, he will be almost unbeatable in the marking contest and when trying to tackle him.

who is seriously going to be able to compete with him on the lead when he is 200 cm, very quick and powerful too?

...fair call...thought he was a tad cautious for the contested ball...not sure if he feels confident in his re-co shoulder as yet...no overhead marks or wrapping up the opposition in tackles etc...booming...and i mean booming kick...hope thats not all he has in his bag of tricks...reminds me of vickery in that he looks like an ungainly young colt...if he shows some improvement in the coming weeks rfc has a winner here...
...him and jr...wow...:thumbsu:....

I like the look of him but players such as Nason and Astbury have already shown more (and consistently so). He constantly goes up for marks one handed, very afraid of injury and is not yet totally comfortable working within the zones and positioning himself.

Obviously that will come with more games but if we agree he needs experience and confidence he can achieve this with a few at the Burgers, kicking goals and learning to throw his body weight around.

I agree with Dimma we should teach the kids at the highest level, if that's the case, we should be testing out our other tall Post, see if he has it and give him a proper chance, that means either Astbury or Griffiths gets dropped and the former already offers far too much to go that way while the latter won't lose anything from it.

It's his 4th game give him a break. He'll grow with confidence when he gets more experience.

Sharing the forward line with the Coleman medal leader would be a very hard thing to do. I think Ben is very conscious of getting in the way of or blocking Jack who's form and role warrants a large amount of space in the forward 50.

If he stays injury free, he will destroy teams in 2 more years.

With Griffiths, Jack and the swing man Astbury, we have the makings of some great KP players. All we need now is to develop a Hicks into the small forward we miss, and couple that with goal kicking midfielders, you have a side that can kick winning scores on a regular basis. Maybe even put us into premiership calculations in as little as two or three years!
