Biglands was suspended for 2 weeks, what does everyone think of that?
Personally I think he can consider himself very lucky considering his record this year...what does evryone else think? I thought he was going to go for 3-5 weeks.

Should have been 3 minimum, 4 probably the go.
No consistency against what Brown copped.

That's fair enough. I hope the club fines his some $$ as well for his second offence in 04.

My real concern is Clarke. I think he was reported too. I hope he gets off, otherwise its Huddo and possibly McGregor to ruck.

It's really his third. He smashed a bloke in round 1 against the Roos in Jonathan Brown style but somehow didn't even get cited after the video review.

Re: Re: Re: Biglands' suspension

He gets 4 for an elbow which was just an ugly unco fend off and most likely accidental. Yet for a blatant punch to the face that looked pretty intentional he only gets 2.

Gotta love consistency!!

Not concerned about the Clarke incident at all. Can't remember the last time a player was suspunded for wrestling. They fine them for that and they can still win the Brownlow if found guilty of wrestling.

He'll get a fine.

I'm sure Clarkey will be breathing a sigh of relief about that!

:D

Told ya :)

Adelaide's Rhett Biglands was handed a two-match ban after pleading guilty to striking Brisbane Lions ruckman Jamie Charman.

Biglands, who flew over from Adelaide to attend the hearing at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday, pleaded guilty for making contact to Charman's face with his left arm while contesting for the footy from a boundary throw in.

"It was not a deliberate, forceful or premeditated punch," Biglands said in his evidence.

Tribunal chairman Brian Collis, QC, said it was a reckless act with the ball not in the immediate vicinity of the two players.

Collis also described the contact as forceful but took into consideration Bigland's guilty plea in only suspending him for two weeks.

Biglands was reported by video reports officer Ian Robinson for the first-quarter incident. He will miss matches against the Kangaroos and St Kilda.

It is the second time this year the big man has fronted the Tribunal, having been suspended for four weeks for striking Fremantle's Graham Polak in round three.

Also, Adelaide's Matthew Clarke and Charman were both fined $1500 after the pair was found guilty of wrestling.

Without wanting to make myself an enemy on the Adelaide board ;), how was it not deliberate or forceful (considering it left Charman on the ground holding his face), and how did he only get two weeks with a guilty plea with his record this year?

Second time he's been very lucky this season.

I think you will find that a lot of us agree with you :)

Yeah, about as consistent as the week-to-week interpretation of the holding the ball decision. Biglands was very lucky not to get a longer holiday!

Just for the record, that went to the tribunal, but he got off.

Carry on.

Totally agree.

Probably the only thing they've got right is the aggregate number of games suspended he's been suspended for the 2 incidents combined.

Should have been more like 2 and 4 rather than 4 and 2.

Same thing - he still smashed the bloke. Kangaroo fans couldn't believe he got off.

I agree, think he was very lucky, didnt expect to see him again this year. Maybe he should have just pushed him over and kneed him in the head, as thats ok to do now.
