Article on female assult http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/...hing-at-prospect/story-e6frea83-1226512951895

A few years ago, my football clubs Grand Final celebrations were ruined by a group of young gents claiming to be bikies who proceeded to start king hitting our players, chuck chairs at us and bar staff and pour beer over our girls, as we were celebrating our grand final win in our sponsors pub. Not an ideal way to celebrate.

has anyone had any experiences with bikies? Seen a fight? Been assaulted yourselves? Share your stories here.

When we were growing up a bikie moved into a house across the road from us. Lasted about 6 weeks. Hellish neighbours. Whilst they didn’t directly harm or hurt anyone, just bikes and cars constantly coming and going constantly, parties all night (and all day), pretty much just horrible people to have sharing a fence with. Cops around every couple of days.

There were so many people coming and going you could never quite tell who else actually lived there. Maybe a girl or another bloke or two.

He looked like your stereotypical biker. Funny thing was, when he first moved in he saw my old man across the street, he came over and introduced himself and shook hands etc. My old man admitted he was shitting himself as he walked toward him, but he was just saying g’day. And then whenever you saw him in the street, he always gave you a wave and how ya going... so he was friendly in that regard. Just really noisy and disruptive neighbours.

Were gone as quickly as they came, never saw them again.

My names Jax my whole family are involved in Bikies i am the vice pres my step dad who killed my dad is the pres

Great times

A mate of mine had her party at the Hastings Chapter Outlaws HQ. Shit that was scary. Awesome people (if you're on their good side) but scary.

Apart from having read Hells Angels I know little about bikies, perhaps someone with a little more knowledge than me can answer this; are bikies now worse than they were 20 years ago? I can't help thinking sometimes that the whole issue has become a bit of a media beat up that the cops and state MP's have enthusiastically embraced.
That's not to deny their criminality, sometimes I wonder whether they are a bit of an easy target.

IMHO the drugs are now so entrenched into bikie culture that it's actually worst amongst them and their enemies as opposed to scaring the general public. But 25 years ago before bikies made and distributed speed they were more into riding around and being absolute campaigners and looking for trouble.

Now that they are all into organised crime and there are a lot more lebs in the sydney bikie scene they don't go looking for fights no more as to avoid trouble due to their drug dealing. BUT they do still fight amongst each other.

When i see a gang of bikies going for a ride most of them seem to be the older ones, the ones that are 45-55 and just want to go on long cruises.

A lot of the bikie gang members these days (especially the Lebo ones from Sydney) don't even ride motorbikes.

Surely owning a motorbike would still be a prerequisite for being a bikie gang member?

There is Rebels clubhouse in Albion, Brisbane. I was driving past one morning and there were stacks of them pulling up and going inside. It was quite a sight. Putting their activities aside, it really is something to see so many of them at once.

I’ve read a little bit, they seem to be like most other organised crime these days – they go about their (dodgy) business and that’s what they’re interested in. Unless you’re a part of that world or go out of your way to make contact with them, I don’t think they’re really a direct threat to anybody unless you were unlucky and happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Most legit people and organisations go out of their way not to have anything to do with them, which is the way to go. Really not people you want to be involved with. But I don’t think it’s really like the stories you hear from the 60s in the States where they’d just go around causing trouble for the hell of it.

They’re a target for the cops these days because they’re heavily involved in drug manufacture and trafficking, illegal weapons trafficking, etc. Organised crime.

Yeah man, bikies are awesome. I mean, violence and robbery are admirable, and being generally anti-social is really cool.
I'm not saying they are all awesome, the particular group that were there on the night were fine. But hey, believe everything you read in the newspaper.

Really. That's like saying all AFL players are great blokes who're always up for a chat, because they weren't a total prick when you met them on a family day.

Of course they're going to be alright when you're paying to hire their place.

The reality is a little different.

Hardly, the AFL players have to be nice and what not, these guys don't have to do anything. When you talk to people you can tell if they are nice or not. These people were nice.

He didn't say they were all bikers were great blokes :S He clearly said the particular group he met on the night were fine.

same thing. people never meet all afl players at the same time, yet in every thread about player x being a w***er whilst on the piss/gear, you'll get fanboys on here come out and say 'well i met him at the family day and he was a great bloke, even signed an autograph for my son, so i don't believe a word of this'.

judging the character of these particular bikies (or anyone) on the basis of a short meeting where you're effectively a paying customer, is not something i'd advise.

i have no doubt they were nice to the poster, but i don't agree with the proposition that because they were nice they are good blokes.

There's good ones and there's bad ones.

My dads uncle is a member of a club and was pretty high up at one stage, think he may have been president of his chapter in his day. Now that he's an old bastard he's still a member but not sure what responsibilities he has. I'm not going to really claim to know him or much of his story but my dad hangs out with him and the club pretty regularly. Dad has taken me to club functions and stuff at the club rooms every so often from when I was around 10 or 12 onward... They've even been around on camping trips and stuff with my family and there has never been any huge issues. Even when other clubs have been around it's always been civil.. Some stupid shit has been done while drunk on camping trips but nothing shocking that affected or hurt anybody else. I specifically remember a few of those involved being made to pick up rubbish around the camp... Not very badass.

Hope people don't associate every person who rides a Harley as someone associated with an MC, and thus automatically think their out to cause trouble. There's guy out there who just like to ride bikes with their friends and don't really deserve the negative rep.

Yeah the 'one percenter' MC's definitely have some shady goings on but IMO most clubs would be motorcycle enthusiasts who hang out together and get pissed etc.

A friend of mine once attended one of their poker games, complete with topless barmaids. Said it was pretty cool and they were all fairly down to earth/friendly.

Known plenty in my time.

They range from top blokes (however they can get overly nice, expecting help in return) to compete douchebags.

Most of the problems stem from the young ones on the fringe.

Other than that they're only worried about each other and rival suppliers.
