To those of you who want to vote for all these ex players to be on the board, I nealy fell off my chair this morning when I heard on SEN news that Bill Barrott, after supporting the Macek ticket for change for a few weeks now and appearing in newspapers with the opposing ticket, has ended up voting 5-4 in favour of Clinton Casey.

Ha, I read about it this morning. He is blaming wood and macek for being deceptive.

Macek is calling him a liar.

That sort of unity is price less.

How many richmond fans have voted for macek and co under false pretenses. You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.

Lets hope those who havent voted yet sink the boot into macek and co.

Here's the article. What a joke the macek ticket has become. At least if you're gonna challenge, have some decent policies to go with.

Barrot backflips on Big 4 ticket
Jon Pierik

IN A stunning backflip, Richmond legend Bill Barrot has endorsed the re-election of president Clinton Casey -- just a week after calling for change at Punt Rd.

The alternative Big 4 ticket last week announced the former champion centreman had emphatically endorsed its push for power after meeting with prospective leader Charles Macek and his key supporter, Bryan Wood.
But his ballot paper -- leaked to the Herald Sun last night -- has shown otherwise.

He sensationally voted 5-4 in favour of the Casey ticket as the bitter election campaign at Punt Rd draws to a tumultuous close.

Barrot supported Casey, Greg Miller, Don Lord, Gary March and John Matthies from the incumbent board, while from the rebel group his nephew, Trevor Barrot, was given a tick of approval along with Robert Edgley, Sharon Hall and Macek.

In a major swipe at the Macek camp, heavy-hitters Wood and Brendan Schwab were notable omissions.

Barrot's backflip could embarrass the Macek camp in the same way Casey was left red-faced when his bid to lure colourful commentator Rex Hunt on to his board backfired.

The Casey camp confirmed last night Barrot had shown it his ballot and provided a copy, which was later forwarded to the Herald Sun.

When contacted last night, Barrot admitted he had lodged his vote with returning officers PricewaterhouseCoopers, but wouldn't confirm or deny that the leaked ballot was his.

The ballot carried his signature and club membership number.

Barrot said he was still angry with the Big 4 ticket for comments it attributed to him in a statement given to the Herald Sun last week.

"I sincerely believe that the Big 4 is a genuine team and the best equipped to take Richmond back to its rightful place at the top of the AFL competition," Barrot reportedly said at the time.

"I want to support the winning team and I want to support my teammates."

Barrot later appeared in a photo with premiership teammates and Big 4 supporters ******** Clay and Francis Bourke.

But last night Barrot let rip at Wood. "Bryan Wood was told by me that I would talk to the press personally and handle it in my political way," Barrot said.

"I am more than disappointed.

"I had a meeting with Clinton Casey and Greg Miller the week before and nothing came out of that meeting."

Asked which ticket he supported in the bloody election fight, Barrot replied: "I would like to see the best team take the field as directors for the football club."

Casey said he was delighted Barrot, who played in the 1967 and '69 premierships and was named as centreman in the club's Team of the Century, had voted for him.

"I am honoured a bloke like Billy Barrot has taken the time to vote for us," he said.

Macek categorically denied Barrot's claim that he hadn't made his initial comments.

"What he is filthy on is no one in the media rang him," he said.

"There was more than one of us there. When we took the words down, he said at the end of the meeting: 'I have made up my mind, you blokes are going to get my nod, these are the reasons'.

"He said: 'You can issue a press release.' "

"We read back the words, in a sense.

"I think his ego is hurt."

All votes must be lodged by 5pm this Friday, with a result expected to be released on Saturday.

All those people who voted for the Macek ticket must be feeling pretty stupid right about now.

This club needs stability, and there is no way this 'big 4' can provide it.

And to all of those who doubted Greg Miller . . . . SHAME SHAME SHAME.

I believed i read somewhere that it was "leaked" to the Herald Sun by either Barrot or Casey.

I severly doubt it would be from Price Waterhouse Coopers end, because that would cause all hell to break loose.

Barrot would be a suprise. Makes him look like a goose and embarasses his nephew. And of course it couldn't be Casey because we all know they are running a clean campaign and it is only Schwab who is getting dirty.

Agreed. Does seem odd that they are keeping a running total though. You would have thought they'd have kept the votes separate and done the tally on Saturday.

for mine thats pretty clear the sacey camp has leaked it with barrots approval

Time to accept your on a loser Weaver. Facts are starting to haunt you :)

Barrot leaked it. That doesnt make him look stupid.

Macek and Woods dishonest use of his name makes them look ridiculous.

But Macek's comments on Barrot demonstrate a complete lack of character on his behalf.

Time to start fessing up on the other lies.

They are keeping a running total so that they can give the results quickly - post election. If they had to count 20 000 votes all at once, with the likely 1 work experience student they have on the job, or the junior consultant who is doing 30 hours unpaid overtime a week, then it would take ages.

Whatever is the case, one thing is for sure. The website polls clearly indicate a landslide win for casey which means desparate times and face-saving policies are being devised to smear whoever they can.

whatever.... when that first goal travels through post high during the wizz fizz all will be forgotten and we'll all be puchin the air instead of each other ;)

Well it does appear casey will win easy , i hope people are right about how good Miller is....Because it scares the ******** out of me that Casey is going to be still involved in this club...

I hope people are right about Rex taking over from Casey next year....
Not that i am a great fan of Rexy but he couldn't do any worse than him...

Was it just me or did anybody else think the low point in the media coverage of the election was reached when they started quoting website polls as authoritative?

I think the behaviour of the media over the course of this election has been appalling.

From day 1 they have tried to influence the outcome. Finishing with Caroline Wilson doing a job on Miller last Sunday and then saying we should vote for the Macek ticket. No reason given of substance.

Tell me she isn't in Schwab's back pocket. The children of the old guard attempting to exert influence over the club and its supporters. It will be interesting to see how she, Jake Niall and Sheahan respond, if Casey gets up. They will probably infer that we were stupid or blind sided by Miller.

LMAO as always oxx , stop trying to sound so pompous Weaver .

fact is with Casey saying that he will walk in twelve months if he hasen`t turned the finances around and now the credibility of the " Big 4" in tatters, why are we even bothering to go on with this election .

Step down now Macek , Schwab and co. ( Wood in particular whose integrity i have questioned all along , and now been proven right ) and save what little face you have left and let the incumbant get on with the job of ressurecting the RFC .

Charles Maceks' ticket is scandalous.

I'm in no doubt that you'll be back to calling Casey scandalous in a few months.

Question is, will you be taking the remote control to games with you to throw at his head?

Rebels cool on Barrot
By Michael Stevens

The Australian

BILLY Barrot's seeming about-face in the Richmond board election would not damage the chances of the rebel group, spokesman Charles Macek said last night.

"I think it is tragic that someone is using what is allegedly his ballot paper for political purposes," Macek said.

"To the extent that anyone thinks it might influence the election, I think they're mistaken because I suspect the vast majority of people who are going to vote have voted."

Barrot, one of the Tigers' favourite sons, initially sided with the Big 4 group in a bid to oust incumbent president Clinton Casey.

But in an about-face, revealed in the Herald Sun yesterday, he allegedly voted 5-4 in favour of the Casey ticket.

Macek said last night the revelation had not damaged his campaign, but rather Barrot himself.

"Everyone who knows Billy knows his health situation," Macek said. "That's why Bryan Wood and I took so much care to ensure that there was no misunderstanding.

"And it's just unfortunate that he didn't get to speak to anyone in the media, even though the media arranged the photo shoot (with fellow Tiger champions Francis Bourke and ******** Clay).

"He's disappointed that he wasn't able to get his perspective across, and I can understand that." Macek said it was sad Barrot's name was being used for political purposes because it didn't reflect well on the champion centreman.

Macek didn't mind using Barrot's name for political purposes last week. Why wasn't it sad then Charles? You can't have it both ways.
