I'm so happy to see Billy back in the team. He is an underrated defender and we are lucky to have him out there handling the gorillas from opposition teams. He punches from behind and when in possession gives the pill off to the first option. Hopefully he is there in September.

Believe his deal ends this year. Should be given a 2 year extension IMO.

A premiership full forward who can also swing to full back and dominate. 2 years would be the minimum expected. :) :blueheart:

Spot on, mark when in position, punch when not. So many afl backs are trying to mark from behind now, a plague on the game. Howie also does it very well. Howe/Moore/Chooka play so well together. Two more years for the Chook!!!

My previous post about Billy being a jet was a little tongue in cheek but he has been fantastic this year! Obviously, team defense has been out standing which helps.

One thing I love about Billy, his plan is simple, he endeavors to get in front at every contest, using his 200 + frame, forcing opposition forwards to try an jump over him. This takes some courage and he gets crunched a heap, but he gets up, dusts himself off and backs into another pack.

Could make a Point this could be the best game he has played for Collingwood

Was Massive Tonight

Sure was, the Framchise delivered tonight. Make it simple for him and he will do well.

he was terrible in the first half, handpassing to opposition, trailing in his opponent. Took 2 contested defensive marks in the 2nd half that were important, and improved from then on

Billy is a very underrated footballer, and I include the Pies' brain trust in that category as it was only injury which got him a position in our defense. He does the basics and unlike some players never gets ahead of himself.

At no stage was he terrible.

Was a sort of strange night for Bill - conceded two early to Treacy and I think many thought we were in for a long night, but when you pull back and look at Treacy's performance as a whole - one goal was a slider on the run, and the other was when Treacy got the mismatch on Howe (whether that's Bill's fault or the system breaking down is anyone's guess). But outside of that Treacy was basically a non-factor - especially within Freo's attacking 50, while Bill took some really important intercept marks and nullified a lot of arial contests.

Had a couple of panic handballs or rush decisions which had my shoulders tense up in fear, but I don't recall anything particularly harrowing from him that cost us a goal. He's a much better player when he just settles and takes the most obvious option - a 20m sideways chip, a handball to a running kicker or as long down the line as he possibly can. Nothing wrong with being a limited player, with a determined role - but it's important to know your limits and play your role and Bill is the definition of that

TRIGGER WARNING: 2011 Grand Final discussion below

So who remembers when Podsiadly went down early in the 2011 Grand Final? Yes, I remember it well. I remember being so hopeful we were gonna go back to back!!

It seemed that would have been favorable to us. But it created a shift that saw Tom Hawkins play the game of his life! The rest is really horrible history!

This is known as the Podsiadly Effect.

There's a bit of Podsiadly Effect about Reef getting injured I feel. The club was backing him in and it was horrible that just when he seemed to be breaking in, that happened. Feel for the poor bloke. As a club, it may have done us a favour. I think we look at better backline with Big Billy and the more games he and Moore chalk up together, the better in-sync they will get.

Great game from Big Bill. Love his work. Been a fan from the start.

I think we need some more love here to be honest.
Since coming back in Billy has been enormous.
Don't recall him getting beaten,
Making a bad blue or being a liability.
His form is actually better than when he got regular footy in 2023, a massive part of why the backline is holding together.
