Only difference is one's getting $300K/year more. Isn't King supposed to be fit this year? Done zero so far. The most impressive thing has been the way he sprints to and from the bench

come on mate, this is the geelong board not Richmond... its only been the NAB cup, wait till round 4-5 to judge

I was waiting for this thread to appear. King will hopefully get better, he has been a quality ruckman inthe past and may just need some time to get it right again.

I will say this for Blake, because many have knocked him (especially on CC), his early form has been really good. He has actually dominated the ruck sometimes but can be outplayed against an experienced quality campaingner. Like during the Port game. He is even kicking the ball and running which has showed he is building on the improvements he made last year. I think he is shaping up to become Kings replacement in a year or two. Ruckmen are usually slow developers so Blake has time to keep working towards becoming our no 1 ruckman

But I hope King can find some good form this year and we see the AA king return with a vengeance.

I think that we're lucky to have 3 ruckmen of quality.

King did some good work in the centre on Friday, and with more fitness and match time may contribute around the ground a bit more.

Blake was also good in the centre and seems to be improving his skills around the ground gradually.

Ottens was great last year carrying much of the ruck load.

I don't really care who is 'better', I just think we should have all 3 in the side most of the time, unless it is a wet day.

- I too long the 3 ruckman lineup. Lets Ottens play at FF, lets us tired out the opposition ruckman (especially those teams that are very light on them, Adelaide & Bulldogs to name a couple) and gives you the ability to throw big men both up forward and down back.

Horses for courses but as a general idea I like it.

I wouldn't say that Blake is better than Kingy... YET!!! Blake is improving every game that I see him play. Even his kicking is a bit better (and thats saying something)! I would like to see Kingy, Otto and Blake all play in the senior team which would give Otto full time as a forward. Not sure if it would work but would be a nice trial in pre-season.

I agree. Play all three of them and leave Otto at Full Forward, one on one with his opposition player.

Blake is getting there but really needs to work on his input around the ground. It's border line embarassing when he gets the ball at times....

People often underestimate Kings input around the centre. When fit he dominates the centre, however he is rarely fit. I hopw we get atleast 17-18 games out of him this year. If we do and he is fully fit for those games, we'll play finals.

Agreed. It won't work against all opposition sides, but it's the best default situation i think.
Ottens needs to spend as much time up forward until Nablett and Hawkins come on in the two or three seasons ahead.

King is a great tap ruckman and is v good a putting the ball down the mids throats BUT (and it's a big but) the modern game requires rucks to do more around the ground (cox, sandilands, goodes) and that is where he falls down.

Also if they only bring him on for 10 minutes a quarter again this year I would seriously start questioning his worth as a seat on the bench.

Pretty much sums it up. If fit should be resting in the forward line. he can take a mark and kick goals.

Be very careful offering an opinion on this site - you're bound to be shot down by "experts".

I actually think the gap has closed between these two players and Blake has really come on nicely. I did think that King gave us first use when he was in the middle but around the ground he still looks to be off the pace when compared to the premier ruckman in the comp.

King's body is rooted. Blake really has no excuses. It's not like he's a Sandilands or whatever. He's only listed as 199cm and should have better ball skills etc around the ground than he does. Coordination is not one of his better areas.

If you wan't to read a forum dominated by a few core posters, go have a look at the Carlton board. A hand ful of guys post their opinions and the others just nod their heads like a bunch of bobble head dolls.

Yes, we all go for the same team here... No point trying to slag each other off... But just for the record, I would like to nominate myself as the leader of this so called clique. Make me king.
