They were average both ways but Port got the better of it i thought.

Apparently if your name is Cornes or Burgoyne holding the ball does not count.
Cornes is a Inbread

I thought the umpiring was pretty fair. A few soft in the backs both ways but they are there under the laws of the game. You cant expect the umpires to pay holding the balls or dropping the ball decisions in those conditions, so Dave what exactly are you talking about?

There may have been a few occassions when the tackler could have been rewarded, but they were pretty good. The uimpired as they have been told too.

Regardless what the conditions are good tackles should be rewarded. Both teams had ones which weren't, but the pies faired much worse. Umpires and some poor skills/conversion kept Port in the game.

As usual umpires made the free kick count look pretty for the papers with frees in junk time.

The 50 paid to Cornes when the ball slipped as he was handballing as to be the joke decision of the year to date.

The hands on back rule has just added further inconsistency to the game, if they pay one they have to pay them all.

I have never been this upset over umpiring. It wasn't a direct issue of who got what, I couldn't care less what the free kick count was at the end, but I just had enough of the soft free kicks paid according to interpretation, yet NO SIGNS of REWARDING a player for brilliant tackling, etc.

Nobody these days who gets a free kick, deserves them...players go out there, put their bodies on the line and anything a little too hard at the ball sees them crucified, yet they can lay an awesome tackle, and the umpire just says play on, wtf?

Brett Allen is a fair dinkum cheat, people talk him up to be the best in the business but he crucifies us every time we have him.

Remember, he was the umpire that refused to give Caracella a free in the incident that ended his career. Enough said really.

The umpiring was consistant. But I'm sick of people saying "as long as they're consistant". They were consistantly wrong with the non-appliance of holding the ball and incorrect disposal. We had more non-decisions go against us because we were 2nd to the ball most and had more tackles in tight, but when port adelaide did the same they didn't get free kicks either.

Allen is a absolute disgrace, he is the only umpire I can name who kills us - and he's supposedly one of the good ones.

Absolute little **** burger.

I thought they were pretty consistent but this was to ports benifit. I thought for 3 quaters our tackling and pressure off the footy was much better than ports but the problem was that the umps made the decision to allow the players as much time as they want to get rid of the footy. I am all for adapting to the conditions but I thought they went overboard and never rewarded the tackler. It was the same for both sides but I think it effected us more. In those conditions it was always going to be taxing on the players and I was not suprised we had no run in the legs by 3 quarter time.

Collingwoods two losses have resulted from us simply not being clean enough with the ball

We lead the league in clanger kicks i read somewhere, and it has cost us two games so far

In the first half Port kicked 5 goals from direct turnovers, we should have been up by about 4 goals at 3/4 time

and again in the last it was c.cornes tackling b.johnson that took the wind out of our sails

If we were playing better footy we would have beaten both Port and West Coast, but our own skill errors cost us both games, can only blame ourselves

HEAR, HEAR. Notting nearly clear took his head off when the ball was behind him and the unpire let them play on as if nothing happened.

I didn’t think much of the umpiring but they didn’t kick the ball to Port players or handball to Collingwood players under the pump. It is time we stopped complaining about umpiring that overall evens out and started playing well enough that they can’t influence the result. I thought Port got and we didn’t get some crucial decisions that were costly for us and the Cornes 50m was one in particular but the bottom line is we should have had that game on toast by early in the 3rd Q but we simply didn’t have enough skill and ability.

And here I thought Crows supporters didn't understand the rules.

Umpires let the game go pretty much
Yes they did and I don’t have an issue with that but they then paid a couple of holdingb the ball decisions to Port in the second half and they got some other obvious ones wrong. A few were pretty pivotal. Nevertheless that’s footy and you have to be good enough that it can’t hurt you too badly. The bottom line is we aren’t good enough and we won’t be for a few years yet.

Allen is one I don’t like. Been to too many that he has r*ped us in. Not sure of other clubs have similar experiences and he is just ordinary or what the story is.

Bingo! How about blaming James Clement for the two goals he handed Port?
I can't remember the other direct errors, but I also noted that four of their first five goals came DIRECTLY from a Collingwood error (ie. they goaled within the next passage of play). The fifth goal was from a centre clearance right after we had kicked a goal.

The only 'issue' I had with the umpires was the consistency of not paying holding the ball when someone (99% a Port player) was tackled, and the ball came free, and it wasn't paid holding the ball. It was unfortunate that we laid so many of those, with zero reward.

I also "blame" the injuries in the last quarter.....
