Anyone know any more about the wright from GC rumour - all of this talk about rejects from GWS and Adelaide is depressing - the thought of us actually looking at another key forward would be great, not more small forwards, defenders or avg mid's

Sumner has midfield attributes. Great speed, good tackler, wins one on ones. His lack of accumulation is problematic. Maybe a proper pre-season might make him a wingman

Sent from my SM-G920I

I get the feeling that our fortunes are slowly turning and if this guy comes on it will be a huge win for us. I like his aggression too, doesn't back down as you stated he needs to get more ball but you'd think with a big improvement in fitness his numbers with increase.

I don't see how anyone could be unhappy with this "5 for 5" deal...

It's fairly simple math really...

At draft, pick 5 gets you one very good young player.

GWS deal, pick 5 gets you five very good young players.

I'd say, it's a pretty amazing result if it eventuates....
Except that all five are not "very good young players".

Our spine is set Mids next be patient guys don't forget before Bolts got the job list was deplorable Stay tuned hopefully couple of more surprises
Thanks there will want to be some surprises coming up with no genuine midfielder in that proposed deal for pick 5 . And our spine is nowhere near set we have no decent ruckman and currently no decent key forwards .

5 players can all play Bolton thinks all fit will be in team come round 1 hopefully it comes off it's very even draft pick 5-20 not much in it

If Marchbank and Corr are in the 5, and Bolts thinks they'll be in the Rd1 team...which i agree.

That must mean Rowe is up for trade...or Weitering is our new CHF.

GWS want to get ahead of academy bids so they get those and top end talent.

They may trade 5 and 7 for 1 as they want McGrath.

Which makes sense. So, a team on the verge of a dynasty is going to pick up 3-4 top 15 draft picks this year.

Meanwhile, we are rebuilding and are looking to pick up maybe 1 top 15 draft pick?

Look I could be wrong and I hope I am but I just don't see how that 5 for pick #5 deal benefits us.

Barass saying they'll all play round 1 but I don't see how?

Surely we can't go into a game with 5 KPDs: Weitering, Marchbank, Plowman, Rowe and Corr

and then having another 5 KPP: C.Curnow, Silvagni, McKay, Stewart and Casboult in the forward line.

Add Kreuzer and Philips to that and we will be way too top heavy.

Pickett has a Lisfranc injury he'd be pretty lucky to play round 1.

If these trades occur as rumored, we've done a brilliant job at turning over the list in such a short time.

Corr-----------Marchbank---Kennedy
Plowman---Weitering-----Pickett
Kerridge-----Hrovat---------Cuningham
Curnow------McKay---------Silvagni
Sumner------Stewart--------Wright
Phillips-------Lamb

With more to come...

Giving up 5 for those guys and 16/17 is the KJ deal all over again with just more fringe players.

I don't like it at all. You're missing out on a Brodie/Taranto/Scrimshaw and getting Galluci or Florent - there's a huge drop in quality, we can get a better result than this, c'mon SOS you've had all year.

Corr + Kennedy + Pick 16 for Pick 5 would be equivalent to the Jaksch deal. I think this one favours us a lot more. This draft is deep with midfield talent, Pick 24 alone will nab us someone excellent.

Don't be short sighted. If those were 5 very good young players GWS wouldn't be offloading them so easily.

always fan of Marchbank reminds of Rance with agility and skills and can play forward

Finally!! I agree has great closing speed and long arms. He also reads the ball well in flight so will take strong intercept marks. The bonus, can be a great option as a forward

Are the injury concerns he's had over the past 4 years being completely ignored?

Hopefully he gets his body right I think no one on here has thought about the long term effects these injury spells will have on his confidence. You take that away from a player and they are shot.

Our problem areas are midfield and forward how does this trade improve those areas of our team ? other than a bit more depth with defenders such as weitering or rowe being able to pinch hit forward . 3 of the proposed players are defenders .

Hang on, if we value pick 5 so much, if it's such a precious commodity, then GWS isn't offloading them easily, they're demanding a high price for them...

It'll get us a promising kid but nowhere near the quality of the top 8 in this draft. I'm also not sold on the quality of Corr, Kennedy and Pickett. Corr has never impressed me and I watch a fair few GWS games.

My only concern with grabbing Marchbank AND Corr in addition to Plow and Weiters is that they can't all play in the same team. I know... depth etc etc but if we've got the shot at GWS' second-tier, why not target at least 1 good young mid of the five players?

Hrovat will help, and we'll likely target mids at the draft - but who'll miss out of the four young KPPs? They can't all play surely...
