Money coming for a Carlton premiership

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...lton-premiership/story-e6frf9jf-1226073970205

SUDDENLY premiership punters have woken up to the possibility that Carlton can go all the way.

And for good measure they are backing Marc Murphy as well as teammate Chris Judd for the Brownlow Medal.

Sportingbet Australia chief executive Michael Sullivan said yesterday the Blues had been under the radar for too long.

"And (Matthew) Kreuzer got through the game in fair nick, which is massive, plus they had no (Jarrad) Waite. With no major injuries, they have the depth you need," Sullivan said. "We took bets of $40,000 and $30,000 at $1.05 against the Lions, which was money for jam."

Haydn Lane, of sportsbet.com.au, said the Blues were a clear third pick and firming.

Murphy should be ahead of Judd in all individual accolades at the moment :thumbsu:

Not sure how I feel about these feel good articles though.

Well I don't feel bad. Actually I feel kinda 'meh'

I'm like a kangaroo, I don't look backwards.

I'm convinced that we're contenders.

We lost to Geelong by 2-points and switched off for 10 minutes only against the Magpies. We are not that far off.

If we are going to win a premiership, the team we have now isn't going to change a whole lot IMO.

We will start to rotate fringe players through the side as we start settling into our finals team. The bye in the second last week will help.

Also, for our losses against the Geebungs and the filth, we were several players down on full strength sides playing against their full strength teams (yes I know they might have been 1 or 2 of their first team players down but we were about 6 players down). Round 17 is going to be a good indicator of where we are against the filth and we already know we should have won that one (and even better, the geebungs know it as well).

I was fully expecting our side to be completely ready next year to push seriously for a flag. However, the way the side is playing at the moment suggests that we will give the premiership race a good rattle this year. IF we knock over the filth, then I would suggest that there is a very good chance that we can go all the way.

at this stage there are 4 very important games for the rest of the season. yes every week and win si important but these 4 are the games we need to win to be contenders.

sydney
west coast
collingwood
hawthorne.

you could argue the essendon game as well coz lets face it... its essendon and that draw was a frustrating but these 4 will really help shape the finals.

and IF we make the top 4 would we rather come up against collingwood in week 1 and like a shot to knock them out in straight sets or play geelong and face possibilities of collingwood in the prelim?
