Tom Morris, 9 News via Fox Sports:

“A major board challenge is imminent at Essendon. In the wake of an off-season of turmoil, key powerbrokers - including at least one former player - are preparing a movement which would oust David Barham as president, and other directors too,” he said on Nine News.

“I’ve spoken to one of the key powerbrokers tonight, who says this is not coterie-driven, and it’s just a manner of when and not if the challenge takes place.

“There’s a view the club has been left rudderless and the Barham era has left a legacy of division, instability, player drainage and lost opportunity from this group of people.”

Is there (still) really a 'Hird camp'? I know we as supporters joke/worry about him coming back, but surely there's zero chance of that ever happening now, no matter who gets on the board. Surely???

There most definitely is.

A number of posters on here are still Coach Hird stans, they'll post about it from time to time.

Unfortunately there is.

It will never end for some but as long as Barham gets back and Vozzo is still around Hird will not be a factor unless he does 3 or 4 years hard yards as a senior assistant at an AFL club that has success. From what I hear Vozzo is not rusted on Scott but he wants him to keep building the footy department and program . Even if we have some struggles next year Scott will be safe to coach the fourth year (unless it is a total shit fight like 2020). The key going forward for Scott will be some decent improvement in 2026 and the pressure will be on Rosa to land a couple of top class Free Agents leading into that year. The plan is to draft again next year with maybe a trade option or two or a FA but they want to be set up to really push forward in 2026. Not saying they will not be trying to do that next year but the top end in charge know that next year may not be realistic with the current list. This years fade out really gave them a real dose of clarity on where we are at and how out of touch some of the movers and shakers behind the scenes are when it comes to the list.
I think it is fair to say after backing in the senior guys for most of the season last year even Scott will be looking at it differently next year if the inside talk I hear is right. Guess we will see. 2025 is looking to be among other things a real line in the sand moment for a number of players and the coach.
Good to hear thanks Ant for sharing this.

Really good to hear that the overall football department now has a realistic view of our list overall.
I see alot of people complain that the reason they don't like Barham is because of his mishandling with Andrew T but its ultimately a sliding doors moment if it didn't happen we would not have had Vozzo.

Also over the Scott does not play the kids he does but he also had to get a good look at our list overall if you were a coach and you got told you had a good list you would want to see your senior guys play and give them chances to bounce back.

I have voted for DB to continue.

The fact that Dodoro and Sheedy are gone was enough to secure my vote.

People may think we are jumping at shadows, but it's plain to see this is a Sheedy ploy with Weston as his latest puppet, these clowns are setting up an offsite in Port Melbourne just waiting for a bad year from Scott to hope to bring back Hird.

This cannot happen. If you have the option to vote, please do so.

I think you are right, I’m not even convinced that Hird would be in the Hird camp when it came to coaching the EFC again.

On this, (and a question to everyone not just you) I haven’t listened to Solomon or Weston, but are they advocating for Hird and Dodoro or is it all just suspicion because of connections?

Suspicious connections for Solomon, who is standing to support the current board and is mates with Welsh, who has been part of making the changes we see now. I’d say Solomon is part of a future faction with Welsh, but Welsh is a pro-governance guy, which doesn’t align with the James Hird and the Parachute conspiracy.

Weston is an agitator who wants to fix the finals drought with pointy fingers, he hasn’t come out with unequivocal support of Sheedy/Dodoro/Hird, but he is definitely not pro-incumbents either with the way he talks and his platform comes across like a post-truth populist muddle without the charisma to pull it off. I wouldn’t trust him any further than I can throw him, and I doubt I could even lift him.

what on earth makes you think that. he already applied once.

So Weston is worried that we are not feared but is anyone really feared these days? The game is too sanitised to be generally feared in the modern times. It’s not the 80’s anymore! I wonder what his remedy is for this issue of his? Peter Wright tried to show more aggression last year and got rubbed out for four weeks.

No one is feared because they think they might get a touch up physically. But I do have teams I don’t like playing because you just know we’re gonna lose. I think that’s the sentiment.

Collingwood were the reigning premier this year and nobody feared them at the end of the year. Same with Sydney towards the end of the year so I don’t really agree with that statement.

My humble opinion, the thread below was started by, for the purposes of, white anting Scott & promoting Hird.

So you’re telling me you don’t dread playing Sydney/Geelong etc?

Not every team has to fear them, but literally no one dreads playing us.

I think Weston is 100% correct in that nobody fears us. He still comes across as your typical parachute-in manager who has no idea how to get the results he's asking for. It's not 1983 anymore - professional football is now made up of fully professional enterprises and talking about what we were 40 years ago is just showing one is comically out of touch.

Solomon has actually been involved with professional football in the last ten years so I won't put him in the same category.

That’s the point I was trying to make. Which ever way you look at it, it is puff and wind with no substance. Fair enough he is annoyed, same with 80K + of all of us but what is he going to do about it?
