CROWS defender Nathan Bock has pleaded guilty to drunkenly assauting his girlfriend, but has escaped conviction over the incident.
Bock pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and one of property damage stemming from a nightclub argument with Carlie Matthews at the General Havelock hotel in April.
He has been fined $200 and is now under a 12-month good-behaviour bond. His lawyers asked that no conviction be recorded and this was opposed by nether the prosecution nor Ms Matthews.

Some good news. Now lets get on with the Footy.

Wow, this has just justified all the rumours that it was all a giant storm in a teacup!

$200 dollar fine, what a joke.

Which generally confirms our initial speculation that the assault was on the much less serious side of the scale despite what The Ragvertiser would have us believe.:thumbsu:

so you reckon being slapped twice on the face; being grabbed on both arms so you can't move; and having beer thrown in your face is "on the much less serious side of the scale"??

So you were there?

Thankfully we will soon find out exactly what happened that night.

Relative to punching someone in the face sending them to hospital certainly.

yes, i was in court today and heard all the evidence - which bock admitted

Oh ok, nice.

I'm not saying I know what went on that night but did it seem like he pleaded guilty because it was the easier option? He would have been told he is facing a $200 fine and no conviction so copping that would have been quicker than taking it futher.

he pleaded guilty because he was guilty, didn't have a choice given the evidence....his g/f gave victim impact statement detailing "considerable pain"...his genuine concern was a conviction which would preclude him travelling to some overseas countries.

An interesting survey of your post history has you sticking to a similar theme.

Michaelangelo?

and this has somehow become about me? play the ball, not the man...
but thanks for your interest: seriously, nothing better to do??

Enough playing the man. Fuddnuddler has stated that they were in court today and heard the evidence against Bock. Thus, they are not telling 2nd or 3rd hand stories.

If the media coverage of the court case differs from the information provided by Fuddnuddler, then the mods will take the appropriate course of action. For now though, we assume the information to be accurate - the first accurate info we've actually had regarding Bock's offences.

At least we will know the truth, no payments were made to hide the facts.

I'm not calling you a liar but I'd like to see a court transcript or a list of the exact actions Bock pleaded to before I took this as gospel. For now as far as I'm concerned it's just hearsay on a message forum, though it wouldn't shock me greatly if it were the case.

No doubt now that the court case is over exactly what was admitted to in court will end up splashed all over the back pages of the paper anyway so we'll soon find out.

There's more info on this in an article on afl.com.au:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/79453/default.aspx

Including the following statement:
The All-Australian admitted slapping his girlfriend twice on the face and breaking her handbag in an argument which broke out after another woman took an interest in Bock.

Though not as comprehensive as Fuddnuddler's description of events, this does not contradict what he/she wrote earlier in this thread.

What Fuddnuddler's said and what was written in that statement is what has been reported since April - nothing new. And it said in that statement that the argument started after another woman showed interest in Bock - newsflash Carlie, he's an AFL footballer...get used to women throwing themselves at him! There was even a documentary on SBS about women who chase AFL footballers for sex...

It's close enough to add credence to their descriptions, that's for sure.

All in all a very sorry chapter in the history of the Adelaide Crows and a big black mark against the name of Nathan Bock. I hope that the counselling he's already undertaken and any further counselling that he takes ensures that this sort of thing never happens again. I wonder if the club will impose any further penalty now that the court case has been heard?

He's got away with a slap on the wrist, but I wonder - if his girlfriend had wanted to push the matter further, I imagine he could be in a fair bit more trouble than he already is, right?

The part about another woman taking interest in Bock is new, I don't recall having heard anything about that before.

They can't, can they??? You can't punish someone twice for the same incident...
