Bombers tanking for a Priority Pick ?

I disagree. A wooden spoon is forever, a draft pick is a ten year proposition. And theres no gaurantee that player will suceed anyway, but you still have that blight on your clubs history books forever.
I do never under any cercumstances, want our great club to get a wooden spoon again!

Well since you have lied on your profile, unless you are an extremely modern internet using 96 year old, i dont know how old you are, but i have been supporting Essendon for 37 years, so i'm not going anywhere

Its great you've been a bomber for 37 years, but I think most would agree that your attitude stinks, very much like Hawks fans of late.

And for the record, I am 96, been a proud bomber for 88 years and still got the sex drive of an 18 year old.

whether or not you think we were "tanking", a few things can be said with certainty

1) we were completely disinterested in the 1st half. there was no chasing, we couldn't lay a tackle, we had no physical presence around the packs and we refused to man up at any stage. we never looked like even trying to win.

2) we had players out of position from the 1st bounce. and not just out of position - some had no logical basis whatsoever from what i could see.

3) fletch did a hammy, and then sat laughing and joking on the bench whilst we fell ten goals behind. he didn't seem to give a s#^t about our position. certainly not the response you'd expect.

4) from the moment Hirdy announced he was playing on, the whole theme of the night became a mute point. it was no longer a "must win this for hirdy" game. "he'll be around next year, so who gives a stuff?" certainly not most of the players, it seems.

The whole point of us getting the priority pick is so we can have 3 picks in the top 20 and use one of those picks to get Aker (which will b our 2nd pick) which will still leave us 2 picks, if we were to win another game then we would only have the 1 pick or not go for him at all, trust me thats they're thinking and i will make a big call now that the deal is pretty much a lock and thats how they will get him, so thats why we're tanking if u don't think so then u didn't watch our game to closely in the 1st half as that was the worst football we've played all year

Brisbane in round 3 was pretty poor, was that tanking? Was the Adelaide game tanking or just a bad night?

Is it too hard for people on this site to think maybe we had an off night like we have had here and there for over 100 years like all teams do.

If Essendon want Aker they will look at him for the right price no matter where we finish or how many picks we have, if he becomes too expensive we'll walk away, and move on without him

I'm gonna have to agree with u here mate as i was going to start the same thread, if i've ever seen a tanking that was it last night couldn't hit targets from 20 metres away, fumbled the ball when not under pressure and only made half hearted efforts to chase when the opposition had the ball. Congrats to Hawthorn but they ain't that good to get 10 goals infront of us with the side they have but what a miraculous comeback or can we call it a coincidence that we played pretty good footy after halftime when the game was out of reach, bit suss i think but hey i don't mind as i want the priority pick so we can give our 2nd round pick for Aker and still have 2 picks inside the top 20, one things for certain tho we won't get the wooden spoon as Carlton has more than wrapped that up they will get nowhere near Collingwood and Sydney in their last 2 games

I don't feel sorry for myself i'm actually if u have read my previous quotes on this matter that i hope we don't win another game coz i want the extra pick u dill pickle although i'm rapt we beat the pies but from here on end we must lose, so u can have ur opinions and i'll have mine ka-peesh

I wouldn't be surprised,
I mean winning games isn't going to them any where..
perhaps some pride on winning more than 3 games for the season,
but I some how agree with this thread.

Beat Collingwood,then get the $**** kicked out of us,and come back and lose by only 18points...
