Yes and you'd include it in scope I suppose.

What I'm saying is the RC would want to address the wider ongoing problem of anti-Semitism. If there was no significant ongoing anti semitism problem, and the murders were a one off, they would not warrant a RC.
An RC would go into not just what happened, but why it happened. The government would be asked what they did in response to Mike Burgess’s warning, some months ago, that an attack was “probable”. The reasons would have been much more detailed than was made public and likely to have been the outcome of a much longer operation.

The Department of Home Affairs would be scrutinised.

Senior public servants may be concerned about being held accountable, much the same as they were over Robodebt.

You know you're on the wrong side of history when you have to go begging for support. And only get replies from already known conservative leaning sports figures. What next? Doctors? Actors? Did Reinhart threaten to pull sponsorship? Wouldn't surprise me.

"Oh look, how anti-semitic they are, web need a RC to investigate it!"

They spend more time creating more seperation and divide. Genius.

I don't remember her being quite so committed to justice when it came to Bruce Lehrmann.
Oh she was committed alright.

The ACT Integrity Commission found that Albrechtsen had extensive, secret meetings/communications with the head of the independent inquiry into the handling of the Bruce Lehrmann prosecution - which included 273 interactions and receiving an advance copy of the final report before the ACT Government - selected sections of which mysteriously appeared in the Australian newspaper the following day.

That tells me that she cares deeply about the justice system - or more specifically how it can be manipulated for political ends.

No doubt a Federal Royal Commission would provide a similar platform for her and other NewsCorp columnists and right wing Netanyahu sympathisers.

Which is of course exactly what this coordinated shrill campaign is all about. Especially in the face of the conservatives having lost the 2025 Federal election so comprehensively and in serious danger of collapsing as a political force with any relevance.

Let me guess.

Janet's nomination for RC Chair would be Wally Sofronoff KC and she would be honoured to serve as his lead counsel assisting.

I mean she already has his private phone number in her speed dial.

As usual, attack and try to discredit the messenger, but don’t discuss the message. You just can’t help it, can you.

Albanese has deployed every tool in the savvy politician’s armoury – deflection, diversion, conflation with irrelevancies, appeals to unnamed experts and downright deception – to protect his government, its people and policies from examination.

What was the message again?

They’re not connected?
Wouldn't it be more productive to try negate hate entirely?

"But nobody can negate hate," some will write. "Good luck with your hand-holdy woke nonsense let's-not-offend-anyone world."

"So why bother do anything?" I'll type. "We can either address hate in all its guises or we can just throw up our hands, embrace the darkness and let it happen."

I'll get silence.

I’d be interested to hear how you’d go about it.

By not taking sides, admitting prejudice across the board is a problem and trying to fight that. The Jewish people in Australia aren't the only ones to face bigotry.

Oh grow up.

Looking beyond the message and seeing who is propagating it and why is what critical thinkers do - especially when the messaging is overtly political.

And when I see the likes of Janet Albrechtsen - a prominent right wing commentator for the Murdoch press (she is not a journalist btw) as well as being a former Chair of the Conservative lobby group (the Institute of Public Affairs) - I start to ask questions about her motives. Especially given Albrechtsen's association with botched legal processes such as the disgracefully flawed and corrupt Inquiry into the botched Bruce Lehrmann sexual assault trial.

This is a coordinated political attack that started within hours of of the Bondi shootings and led by conservative and right wing current and former politicians led by the likes of Frydenburg, Hanson, Ley, Joyce, Howard, Morrison and Abbott. It's backed financially by conservative media mastheads and right wing political lobby organisations including the Executive Council of Australian Jewry and Advance.

I have no doubt that many of those who support a Federal Royal Commission into the Bondi shootings do so for genuine political reasons and because they honestly believe that it is the right thing to do on process grounds after such a horrific terrorist attack.

BUT I am disgusted at the manner in which this process has been politicised by the right wing of Australian politics in a manner that Australia has never seen before following a terrorist incident.

And getting some former great, many former not-so-great and many downright morally questionable sports 'stars' and other identities to sign up to pre-prepared front page media attack ads on the back of this rragedy woukld be friggin' laughable if it wasn't so damned disgraceful.

As I keep saying - those who are behind this will take glee from the hit Albanese and his government will take in the opinion polls in coming weeks and months.

But in the months and years ahead the conservative groups of Australia - including the Netanyahu apologists - will have to take responsibility for way they have used a terrorist tragedy to sow division and fear for political ends. The beginnings of which we are already seeing play out..

I genuinely had no idea that the author of the article linked was the special envoy to combat islamophbia. Even prior to Bondi there certainly was a different level of public profile and media reporting when compared to Segal.

All the sports people calling for it is weird too. Are they just LNP supporters who have been told to say so to help the party score points on a wedge? I mean, does Matthew Hayden even know what a RC is?
Although it doesn't necessarily make him conservative, Matthew Hayden is very, VERY Catholic;

...Ads featuring former test opening batsman Mr Hayden are appearing in Westfield shopping centres and on outdoor billboards, and emphasise that being baptised Catholic has continued to transform Mr Hayden’s life.

In an interview that will feature in the campaign, Mr Hayden said: “Being baptised is like making bread. It’s like the yeast element to creating the dough, which then has a process which gets baked.

“If I didn’t have the yeast, I’d be eating unleavened bread for the rest of my life!

“So being baptised has given me the opportunity to rise and flourish and then to be shared. I can’t help but encourage anyone to plant that little seed because goodness knows what it grows to.”

The advertising will direct people to a website, where they can register their interest and opt to receive a free 30-day reflection resource, ‘More with Jesus’...

They’re all different. How would/do you fight this particular one?
