People make it sound like he has a right to express his opinion, but those who boo him don't.

Yes everyone has a right to an opinion. But if you think he has the right to not be held to account for it, you're wrong.
I ask you, will you boo say, Houli, because he is a Muslim and they don't believe in Homosexuality?

I think part of the booing were to do with him supporting Israel folau's instagram post which was anti gay. Just shows him that you reap what you sow
His post was anti gay in line with his beliefs, but why are we choosing to be only offended by one part of his post? I know I'm going to hell according to the post, just don't get the outrage.

I dont believe in his views but i believe in free speech

He has a right to his opinions but if he is part of social media and likes something like that you have to deal with the consequences

Hope it continues next week
The problem is that it then turns into an all in shit fight on social media which the AFL can’t control. If Gaz “isn’t spoken to” then other footy players come out and exercise their free speech and call him a knob

The Freedom of Speech argument is an interesting one often raised in Australia when in fact, it does actually legally exist here

To add - freedom of speech generally applies to governmental actions, not to ones contractual obligations

Ha! Can't believe this is causing such a storm. I'm not a big boo-er at all, usually only the umps on rare occasions or if a player does something dirty. Did boo Ablett once yesterday as I was frustrated we were losing and everyone was booing so assumed he done something or been given an easy ride from the umps at some point so joined in. Wasn't even aware of the Folau thing, really trying to cut myself off from the crap that goes on around footy these days so had no knowledge of him liking a tweet or whatever. Would not have booed for anything off field related anyway. Can't see why it's a big deal, Cats fans responded by cheering and clapping so they had the perfect comeback, as it should be. End of story.

Like I said, not a big boo-er but I reserve my right to boo. If they ban it, might be the end of me following this crappy AFL.

I'm fed up with all this crap. It's only a game of football FFS, but for some reason AFL wants to be the moral compass for everything going on in the world. Fed up with it.
What are you fed up with? The muzzle on Gaz or the beat up about the boo?

Or Gaz saying something political?

Israel Folau will no doubt get another multi-million dollar contract in some other rugby country: there is big money in France and Japan.

The irony of that list is that none of them are referred to in Christian teachings.
But the weird religious offshoots interpret these things as they wish!

I think the AFL should ban all supporters who booo at games. Those who are banned should attend a 6 week course on Booing Rehabilitation where they learn how hurtful boooing is to players.
All spectators at AFL games will be told to only cheer at games. They should learn that if they don't have anything nice to say about a player they should say nothing at all.
Spectators should be encouraged to dob in anybody who says anything negative about an AFL player by texting to the Officlal AFL Negative Hotline. A security man will be dispatched to eject that negative spectator.
