I dunno if this has been said in this thread but has anyone seen the trailer for the movie Avatar??
During it, some commander guy says "Your on Pandora now" just thought i would share as borderlands is set on planet Pandora. Co-incindence?
That is all
lol good contribution random guy!

After beating that Mathrakk dragon by myself, I'm convinced this game is built for Co-Op. God that thing was a pain to beat, had to keep driving away, dodging the fireballs then firing away again. I also died several times in the process thinking I had to beat him on foot instead of in a Car, losing over 20k.

Really didnt do this game any justice with the way I played it. Was planning for ages to purchase it with a couple of mates to play through together. They got it first, got through the 1st playthrough so I borrowed it to see how it went and got them to join my game. They pretty much killed everything, whilst i raked in the EXP and high powered guns (that I couldnt use :(). Finished it within a couple of days, whilst obtaining pretty much every decent level 48 gun around. Cant be bothered purchasing it now. Was one of the games that I know if I had done it properly I would have really enjoyed.

The trick to killing it is to get on higher ground your shots will be more effective.

I figured that except it doesn't last to long because once you start firing, it'll see you and blast the crap out of you, especially if you're in the gunner seat for a better aim like I was most of the time.

Nevertheless, still having a great time playing. Definitely more enjoyable than MW2 and I've only been playing the game in singleplayer! (Can't get a decent game in Multiplayer, not many aussies seem to play this much, either that or I can't tell which one's an aussie and which one isn't)

beating Mathrakk is easier on foot than in a car. go down to the catch a ride station in the shed you passed on your way to lighting the fires. Mathrakks attack doesn't penetrate it so hop out and take a few shots then when you see him starting to attack hop right back under the shelter. keep doing this and bob's your uncle

I actually tried this, but when it started blasting the rooftop, it wouldn't stop for a while.

Regardless, I've moved on. Beat it ages ago.

IGN review The Zombie Island of Dr.Ned, a score of 8.

IGN BORDERLANDS - THE ISLAND OF DR.NED DLC REVIEW

Closing Comments

While it'd be great to get some downloadable content that adds in character class skills, heaps of new items, bumps up the level cap, or builds in more interesting and complex quest and encounter mechanics, what's presented here is a guaranteed good time. The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is a well-made and entertaining piece of content, giving Borderlands fans a chance to sink bullets into undead flesh in new environments and with some additional quest goals. The expansion also offers stronger story elements, something mostly propped up with wacky humor and nonsense, which is quite fitting considering the context of a zombie outbreak and ludicrous amount of loot and bullets and death. While it doesn't alter the core of Borderlands in any dramatic kind of way, it is one of the most vividly characterized zones. Considering the strength of the gameplay formula and the fact that it's still fairly soon after the main game's release, what's presented here -- more things to kill and more reasons to laugh while doing so -- is welcome.

9.0 Presentation
Everything you're used to, along with a stronger story and better elements of humor.

8.5 Graphics
There's more character to this zone than most others in Borderlands, though there's more frequent slowdown as you're accosted by groups of zombies.

8.0 Sound
Some particularly wacky voice recording that fit with the silly humor of the zone and game in general. Like before, most of what you'll hear is gunfire.

8.5 Gameplay
New enemy types add a few layers to an already entertaining shoot and loot experience.

8.0 Lasting Appeal
Quests of the main and side variety can add up to about five hours of play, depending on your pace, though more could have been done to add incentive to the zone.

OVERALL 8.0

Video Review

I got the DLC yesterday morning. It's great fun and a fresh look from the regular game.

I can notice some of the problems but for a first DLC pack fpr $12, it's worth getting in my book. Blasting Zombies in half with a shotgun is always fun, along with de-limbing them then executing them while they're crawling.

Just got up to here, me and my mate were approx level 23 and had to give up. Was impossible. Tried both cars, tried sniping from under cover but just couldn't do any damage. After 20 mins we had taken about 1/4 of his health and then before you know it he had fully regenrated. Will have to come back with higher level and better guns.

I did it level 23 by myself. You just have to park your care a fair bit away, change to the gunner seat and start blasting him and once he starts to chase you, drive away until he stops, then find another spot and rince and repeat. Never tried it in Co-Op though, I'd imagine it could be different if one was driving and one was in the gunner seat.

The other trick is to run up to where a bunch of bad guys are up on the hill. They will take some of the heat from Mathrakk and it gives you the elevation to take it out easier.

I also killed him solo but it took ages. Died a few times, once I got his health right down and when I ran from his firey balls I managed to get myself stuck and he mauled me. I was devo as it took so long. Next go I killed him though, just kept picking him off with a sniper.

I did it solo, I just triggered the dragon then drove quickly down to the catch a ride station as mentioned earlier.

If you have a decent sniper rifle (i used an explosive one) you can just keep popping in and out from underneath the roof and get a couple of shots into him. Basically just have to grind him down. If the fireballs don't stop he can see you, just get further under cover and he'll ease up.

I tried once in the car before i twigged to this. Once i did, i knocked him over first try

Sounds like a boss best to do on Solo. Remember that on co-op the enemies become harder depending on your levels and such. So that would in turn make the boss probably that much harder.

Just got this game yesterday and am loving the feel, even after only and hour's play. The sudden changes of scenery are cool and those short people who throw those tomohawk things are great.

what do you guys mean by leveling up to face a boss?

Well if you're a level 10 and you go up against a Level 15 boss you're going to get smashed. So you do some side missions to build your rank before taking him on.

Decided to give this a go on the weekend and ended up putting in more hours than I intended. I am level 34 now I think and would have to be fairly close to the end of the game.

My mate is up to level 47 now in the 2nd playthrough... it is going to be a massive grind if I am to get to 50 as it is taking a while to level up unless I jump online I guess.
